Help please for my living room!
Comments (23)There just isn't enough in the room, but all these things come with time and money. I don't think the leather sofa gives at all in the room, it looks really small and heavy looking compared to the new gorgeous one and the chair at the back serves no purpose and looks kinda dumped there. Pictures, side tables with objects on them a rug, large basket with logs or books in it. Don't be afraid to mix things, I have urns, a wooden horse, lanterns, candelabra in my room varying sizes, some real statement pieces. A set of pictures always looks nice too, 4 or 6 together. TK Max is a great place to pic up one off unusual bits for the home it's where I get most of mine from. P.s a nice big mirror always looks great too. X...See MoreNarrow hallway
Comments (37)we have a similar hallway, although there is bend between the front and back room and then a back extension kitchen; the front door faces north. We have been through several incarnations regarding light. starting outside, we have a porch light, which helps to light the hall at night (if we use the override switch). the colours are portland pale above dado, and their darker shade below. woodwork Portland Pale too (eggshell)I would recommend leaving the dado in , it breaks up the tall wall and I am always hitting the walls with shopping and stuff and it is easier to paint over anglypta and it doesn't show the scuffs. All the paint is matt or eggshell, including skirtings/dado, so nothing jumps out at you it all recedes. we have a long mirror on the front part wall and a squarer one of the back so we get bounced light. Mirrors match and come from habitat. The door at the end of the hall is small glass pannelled to get the south light coming to the front of the house. The lighting is recessed into the ceiling and supplemented with pendant. We had the attic done and had a dome put in the top floor which floods light down into the first and ground floor. BTW it has taken us 20 years or so of trial and error..................... top photo from front, bottom photo from centre to back of hall...See MoreMy tiles spoilt my bathroom
Comments (117)Hi all guess what the bathroom still isn't finished but I put some accessories in it and it is already looking quite different. The photo doesn't do it justice it looks better in real life. It looks quite pleasing to the eye. Unfortunately I have bigger problems than how it looks. Do any plumbers know if this shower is access compliant? It has no cut-out or thermostat. You have to control the shower with the bath taps so there is a high risk of scalding. Considering this is a specialist company for mobility I find this pretty shocking. You can't shut off the water other than the taps. Also the temperature fluctuates as there is no thermostat. This is the pipework and electrics below does anyone know if this is legal? See how near the pipes are to the cables??? It seems a bit precarious to me. I am worried about the cables getting hot or wet. Thanks everyone for your support and wish you all a Happy Christmas....See MoreHide pipes/ general outdoor toilet uplift!
Comments (4)I’m no expert but we placed a cupboard around our boiler and then boxed in all the pipework with MDF. We’ve got a lot of boxing in as the house is old and had no central heating when we moved in. Then we painted the walls and the boxing all one colour so it sort of blends in. You could use a kitchen cupboard or get a carpenter to build one. We got someone in to do all the work as it was just too much for us. A carpenter will cost £150-£250 a day but they should do a good job. In the pic below the cream cupboard houses the boiler and to the right (above the blind) is a pipe boxed in area. Sorry the picture is a bit rubbish but I hope you get the ideas. I think plastering/plaster boarding the walls and adding a sink and a radiator is an excellent idea....See MoreCharnelle Els
