What is the length of the appliance pulls on the refrigerator?

We are getting the exact integrated refrigerator and I can't decide between 12" or 18" appliance pulls. Thank you.

The lack of bench space, and I'm not sure which category of the poll that fits into. Layout maybe, since we'll need to move things around to make it work. Our kitchen is enormous, but it's all storage - one whole wall is floor to ceiling pantry-style cabinets. On the other all the stovetop and the sink take up a full half of the bench top, so there is just enough room for one chopping board and bowl on what's left when you are cooking. The crazy thing is, it's not even a tiny galley kitchen, but the space in between the two walls is only just big enough to squeeze an island in, so we are trying to decide between being cramped, or knocking down walls and completely remodelling. Can't quite bring ourselves to pull the trigger on the latter, though, as all the cabinets and cupboard are in great shape.

Okay, so here are my concerns with the current layout: with no space to the other side of the sink, where will the dirty/clean dishes go. In our house, we put dirty dishes on one side and when unloading the dishwasher, put stuff that still needs to be dried off on the other side. But you may well have another system of loading/unloading. Also, items that can't go into the dishwasher need to be somewhere when dirty and then put somewhere when clean. So, in my experience a sink needs counterspace on two sides. You do need somewhere to put appliances, like the toaster/kettle, coffee machine or maybe a stand mixer? If they are behind doors that aren't pocket doors, you'll be working in a 'confined space', which doesn't seem very practical. I've been through the whole thought process recently and we've decided to do without doors in front of the breakfast counter. Very happy with that decision. I'll post pics so you can see how it looks. We also have kitchen doors that lead to the pantry behind the tall bank of cupboards. We've put the ovens above each other, because one oven we already had and the other one is new and a slightly different design. This left space for two pull out larders, one either side of the ovens. Then we have a tall freezer, tall fridge, double doors to the pantry. We also have a separate coffee corner. Hope this helps.

My advice would be to assess where you want to be spending the larger part of your budget, this means deciding what is more important to you, cooking with quality appliances or being able to pull out a larder when realistically you can achieve a lot more, in terms of storage, with a shelved larder and save your money to invest in quality appliances. Be careful with the amount of drawers,pull outs and wire works as these add to the cost of the furniture and can also be retrofitted at a later date should you free up some cash in the future. Keep existing mains supplies where they are and use this as a guideline for the design i.e dishwasher next to sink is an industry standard and work around them. Laminate work surfaces have come an awful long way and so have foil-wrapped doors so consider them to add the look for a little less. Invest in the carcass as this will provide the stability for future door changes if required etc, I would suggest an 18mm minimum with solid backs (18mm) on your base units and a minimum of 8mm backs on the wall units. Finally a good quality, reliable installer will be able to make even the most cost effective kitchen look beautiful so do your homework and speak to people in your area and visit their work (if possible of course!). If you are not careful when installing the kitchen yourself you could end up blowing even more on having it put right.
