In my opinion the three gables don't work- personally I think you should continue the roof line of the main house and continue it down above the front door and put in a small box dormer. As far as the side extension I think you should either sit it back from the front gable and continue the main roof- alternatively put a new roof over where you show two similar sized gables. No doubt an architect will be able to guide you about what the local planners will accept along with what will give the most curb appeal.

Brick garden outbuilding, shed, man cave

Good evening, I was looking around the same before building my 6m x 5m garden shed/ man cave. Is we the anyone who has designed a 6x5m garden our building before? I was hoping to design it for part storage for fishing gear and tools, say 1/5 of the layout and the 4/5 a bar, man cave with a toilet, pool table, dart board and seating area with tv etc. Effectively creating another room from the house? Is there any design software I could try and design this or would anyone fancy having ago? I've drawn up a sketch of the proposed layout attached below. After reading through the regulations if we built the shed within the 1m boundary i believe the following would comply PD and BD. the flat roof would be no higher than 2.5m sloping backwards (roof material from either tile or rubber, total height of shed will be no higher than 2.5m) the walls would be double skin block and mortar, rendered (non-combustible) (Question - could we clad the block it in cedar wood, is this classed as non-combustible?) the total shed area will be less than 30m2 and cover less than half of the total area of the back garden. Ive attached a brief design layout of how the shed would be built. Any ideas or help or potential entail designs would be great! kind regards, Ashley.

Your garden has great bare bones and you will be able to make a big impact relatively inexpensively and without much landscaping. The biggest immediate impact would be to paint all the fencing and posts the same colour. I like the grey you have used on the left, or sage is also on trend and a very calming colour in the garden and provides an excellent backdrop to emphasise your plants. The tables and chairs would look better in a more muted colour, as the white is too stark. I think the thing your garden is missing most some form of architectural height, be it screens as suggested above or a pergola on top of the steps. You don’t have to spend a fortune, also look at secondhand in your area on eBay, or Marketplace. But it would really look lovely with some height that frames the turf area from the patio area and funnels the eye down to some sort of point of interest at the end of the garden, be it a statue / ornament/ planter / architectural plant like a Sikas palm, or bamboo (in a planter though!). Finally some horizontal trellis on top of the fence panels to the left and plant some climbers both on the fence and pergola, clematis is a good choice, easy to care for, so many different varieties that you’ll easily find one you like and it flowers in abundance.
