Breathe life into my new kitchen/family room
Comments (10)Wow! Thanks to all of you for your comments. I think the room in Susanna's picture is beautiful but I think I want a slightly less romantic feel if you can see what I mean? I think I'm trying to get a modern, clean lines look that will major on natural palette BUT that is softened by some texture and I think a pop of colour rather than lots of colour. The Dining Chairs are black leather with brushed steel legs - no wood. I like the greeny blue colour backsplash in mrsmcee74's picture but might want something a little more punchy if I went with that palette. Love the John Lewis Dandelions - had them in the bedroom for a couple of years but that room is next in my list! This is really making me think about what I want for the kitchen / family room. Very helpful indeed!!...See MoreComfy corner in new kitchen/family room?
Comments (4)Hi Alf, I like what you've done with your room - great use of space. Where the guinea pig cage is you could definitely fit a seating area. I would suggest having a corner sofa piece (you can get smaller ones, and separate sections that you put together/can move around). Camerich have a good selection of these: http://camerich.co.uk/range/sofas/clouds95224/small-narrow-sofa-section-right/ http://camerich.co.uk/range/sofas/clouds95224/small-narrow-sofa-section-left/ http://camerich.co.uk/range/sofas/clouds95224/small-narrow-armless-section/ A large square pouffe on wheels (see picture) would be ideal too because it's multifunctional in a small space - you can sit on it and use it as a coffee table (if you put a hard tray on top). I definitely recommend having it on wheels, so you can have more free space when you need it! Amy from topology...See MoreCottage family dining room revamp
Comments (30)Would the Welsh dresser fit in the recess under the stairs, far enough back to not block that window and borrowing the glass section to reflect light? There appears to be more space on that side of the fire - the newly painted dining table could be be positioned to that side of the fireplace. You could then place the couch (OK, I'm an Aussie and we tend to have couches over sofa's!) closer to the fire for a warm reading area and getting benefit of the window and connect with the fireplace Aqua colouring...The free standing chair could be either nearer the window on that side or in the opposite corner near the radiator. Thereby leaving the radiator free, and I assume able to be more effective? Moving furniture around sometimes helps - I do roll my eyes when hubby suggests repositioning furniture to get things right but it usually gets us thinking about how we use spaces!...See MoreWhat would you do to this family room?
Comments (41)I always thought your sitting area was cosy, and it’s even more so now. It looks the sort of space you want to snuggle into to watch a good movie. Liking the shelving. Decor is ever evolving in my house and we have a rule “One in, one out” - helps keep down the clutter. Not that I follow it very often...........See MoreStef
