need help with porch door and front door
Comments (18)Hi Vkololgi We think a grey traditional door with narrow glazing bars would look great against your white rendering. It gives a slightly modern twist to the house without looking out of place and will let in lots of light. Good luck with your project and post some photos of the final result when all the work is done....See MoreFront garden & porch help 1930's Semi
Comments (3)Hi there. I can understand your dilemma as there are a lot of tricky elements to consider in your garden with slopes, pillars and retaining walls. At the moment it looks like your driveway has an awkward change in level. You might want to consider excavating this upper level to leave you with a larger continuous area for two cars. You would then need to think about how to deal with the extra steps needed to reach the front door. I would get rid of the red brick pillars and think about widening the driveway entrance to make it easier for 2 cars. Also, as the above comment mentioned, think about how to hide the bins! Hope that helps!...See MorePorch/front door design
Comments (2)My brother updated a 1950s house for a customer. They didn’t want hyper modern and chose an oak porch which my brother fitted. The windows were changed to a pale blue, very different, but it looks gorgeous. The house was plainer than yours, just a flat front and rather dull but it looks stunning now. Were you wanting a modern look or something more rustic? The pictures below gives an idea of the look of that house as I sadly don’t have a pic!...See MoreHelp with porch canopy design
Comments (3)Thanks both for your comments. It was actually built in the 50’s - a post war build but seems 60’s in style. The canopy is probably mostly for aesthetics but also we have become used to a bit of rain cover and deliveries being left outside. As the front door is going to be on the side it will hopefully direct traffic a bit too… I had thought either a short projection canopy or one that connects the walls so we could have a bench in there. I’m hoping it’s a permanent solution as it’s not connected to the main roof at all and we wouldn’t want to use the same type of roof tiles on it...See Moredoods
