Thanks so much - I absolutely love those colours and the idea of name above crib! A cot will fit in the recess but I think I prob prefer it at the end of the bed so I can easily peek in. To be honest whilst I want to paint etc, we know the furniture is fairly short term. We have some older relatives who live further afield and I want them to have a comfy bed to stay in for the time being since baby will be in with us for a while - we know that in a years time we're prob looking at converting the garage into a spare bed though just no time/money to do that at mo - but def want babba to have run of the nursery and lots of floor space once they're crawling! As for the bedsides they are actually holding everything baby related clothes wise at the mo as no wardrobe in there I was thinking about adding some picture ledges between the windows too for outward facing books to add something to the walls and maybe vintage animal a-z flash cards above the head of the bed?

I recently carpeted my toddlers room and originally I wanted hard flooring but I must say I'm glad I didn't. I think carpet would be much more comfortable for your little boy to be playing on for years to come. Don't spend too much ;) I was wiping sick off mine the other week and if it was a very expensive carpet I would have been nervous as hell. Luckily it all came out fine! I know both carpet and wood have pros and cons so I guess you need to weigh it up whilst making sure you put comfort and practicality over how it looks (boring I know...) you would need a lovely thick rug over your wood floor which would be a nice touch to the nursery...

Joy, It really depends on the colours used rather than the panelling itself. It shouldn't make the room look smaller and is a nice touch. Is it your first child? Mine are now 21 months and 3 years and love their bedrooms mostly for reading and choosing from their many shoes! When we are looking at kids room, the best thing is to make sure it is practical and works for you.. and of course easy to clean. Going for a neutral colour helps not only with not knowing of the gender but also with the changes as your baby grows. Being able to add the pink bits she *will* want or the blue planes and trucks that he *will* ask for is a good idea - of course the Christmas and birthday presents they will get too. The biscuits or duck egg work best for this. Remember to include some great storage and as minni said, I would go white here to help give the room a really nice and happy feel. I have added a few pics that I personally like, and feel adds a little more personality and happiness for a child. Top tips for a nursery I would say are: Include a picture wall with photos of family and friends (it helps them to learn names and faces) Add lots of textures to feel and add a sensory elements And if you are changing them in that room in the early days.. try not to put a white wall behind the changing station! xx All the best and we would love to see some finished pics.
