F&B colour to complement (or detract from) built-in mahogany furniture
Comments (10)Thank you all for your input. I need to perfect the art of closing one eye to block out other colours! I was not good at this! I think you need bigger sample cards than I used. I couldn't paint on the wall as there's currently wallpaper there. My local F&B stockist suggested Shaded White which is a nice, "safe" neutral I think and as the room is quite dark, it seems to work better than the greyer shades I was trying. I guess sometimes what you want is different from what will actually work best and Shaded White seems a good compromise. I'm delighted to have got input from you and I'll post some pictures later of items I'm considering using in the room in the hope of some more advice....See MoreWould curtains work?
Comments (11)Hi peachypear, what a lovely period room. Is that window a shash window? At first glance I would say that window is crying out for a Roman blind. The radiator below the window will hinder any curtains you put up and I think it will look too cluttered. Search on Houzz for photos of Roman blinds to give you some ideas. They look good inperiod and modern homes. If you don't want completely plain then there are loads of softly patterned fabrics which add texture without too much colour. You can then add colour, if you want to, with cushions, throws and pictures....See Morecurtain colour ideas
Comments (5)I think the type of heading is important, and in a grand room i'd go for triple pinch pleats, also, so as not to detract or compete with the wallpaper i'd go for a heavy weight traditional velvet or possibly a slub silk. I would send off for as many samples as you can so that you can match the material in your own home to the wallpaper. Looking at things on line will not give you a good enough match....See MoreTablecloth Ideas for a Seaside Themed Kitchen/Living/Diner Area
Comments (20)Thank you Victoria! Yes there are a few potentials on that site too! I will have to keep mulling it over with my husband I think, and work out whether we can justify the extra cost of the Cream of Cornwall one or not...thank you all for the input!...See MoreG J
