What is the decking?

You need to be careful with the height thing. You are allowed 2m for a fence / wall. You can ask permission from your neighbour for anything over that height, but i'd get it in writing if they agree to save on future arguments. Hedge - Planning Portal Therefore, your only answer is to plant smaller trees and wait for the growth, or ship in larger fully grown trees and plant them in the space between the fenced area of ground and the wall at the rear, As the houses behind go up a slope, you will never obscure the view fully, the trees would have to be enormous. Also, you will not get the privacy from your balcony for the same reason. You could erect a garden sail from the new trees to give the bottom area for seating more privacy.

I have been using this for three years, i jet washed the decking first and did two coats, it did last well over a year to be honest , the following summer, just one coat was enough, it did pretty well on my decking the whole summer with extensive walking over. thats my feedback , so i am not sure why it came off so quickly on yours.

Help with fence paint colour

Silver copse cupinol is a dark grey... There is a darker grey urban slate personally think its too dark. I'd go with the silver copse for fencing will make your plants and flowers pop.... Also silver birch cupinol is a lighter grey... Check them colours out....

Covering decking

Hi Daisy, Your old lean-to looks amazing, very similar to what we will be doing. However I want to cover up the decking with wood flooring (chipboard tongue and groove) then carpet it. What I was worried about is whether the decking would get damp under the flooring and end up rotting both. I really want to get rid of all draughts from the floor and heat the room in the winter so we can use it then too. It gets pretty cold up here in Scotland so I am insulating the walls and roof and fitting double glazing.
