Kitchen dilemma
Comments (6)Hi katie. I think the biggest problem is the worktop and splashback/tiles but dear to replace. I know your dad likes the green ceiling but I personally think it's encroaching on the space making the room feel a little smaller and darker. Having it white or in a paler colour than the walls expands the space. Removing items from the windowsill that block light would help and a bit of a declutter. You could try painting both the units and walls white. If you don't want white and white (but look at images with dark worktops) then try a light colour with white. Adding cheap lighting under and over caninets etc will also help as will reflective surfaces and accessories but you already have the SS sink and chrome handles.. Ps if they are tiles and not a splashback then you can paint them...See MoreKitchen Diner dilemma
Comments (5)I agree with Brandi Nash Hicks, the first thing that struck me was that the table would be better the other way around. When not in use and the chairs pushed in it would allow more space on the doorside, no one would have to look at a wall and it would just feel more spacious. You could even have the narrow part up against the wall. Not sure what the TV is for, is this also going to be a sitting area? It looks far too high up on the wall. I would put any other seating so you can look outside. What do you want to use the room for? It would help if you posted photos of the rest of the room....See MoreFurniture layout dilemma for open plan living/dining/kitchen
Comments (7)Hi Becky, I would suggest getting a professional on board. As mentioned above it is important to get to know your likes and dislikes and then build up what you require within the space you have (with your existing items). Interior designers and concept planners can definitely help with this so it is worth doing some research into it and the costs. Like us, there are many that can offer 3D plans and videos as part of the basic packages so you can see how the space works and feels to navigate - rather than always trying to work it out from 2D's. We also offer three options as a standard, so this is often a good place to start and get to understand how your space works by seeing it in a variety of scenarios. It helps to ensure you get it right first time :) which is really important when embarking on a project this size. I hope it helps. Do keep us posted on how you get on and what you end up with as it's great to follow to journey. Best, Gina...See MoreKitchen/diner dilemma
Comments (9)Hi there and thanks for your reply and the drawing! I had thought of the double sided fireplace option but I’m not sure what’s going to be needed structurally to make that happen - one builder said I wouldn’t need steels but my architect has said I’d need new structural calcs… The utility is currently only 1.6 x 1.04m and there’s a boiler in the corner so it’s a bit tight, hence the suggestion to make it bigger. The other alternative would be to leave it as is and build a utility cupboard on the landing ( plenty of space to put one in but again, architect has discouraged so it’s put me off a bit)...See Moretatts
