Colour for north facing bathroom, must go with purple!
I need to update our bathroom, needs a good lick of paint! It has a purpleish border tile and is north facing and gloomy. II've tried some pinks on the walls but nothing is quite right. I'm going to replace the flooring too, maybe with a wood effect vinyl to warm it up. Any advice appreciated!

4 years agoI agree with Jonathan, a simple grey will go nicely. Grey and purple go so well together. Then you can have plum, grey or pink towels. Dulux Polished Pebble is nice soft grey.

Can anyone suggest a paint colour to go in this north facing bedroom. We're not keen on the curtain colour, but would prefer not to change them to keep costs down. The Windows have a bad outlook so will be putting privacy film on Windows to hide bad view We tried F&B Cornforth White, but thought it may be a bit too dark. For a long narrow room (relatively speaking as it isn't narrow!), you could paint the 2 short walls the dark colour as this will "correct" the room's proportions rather than paint the long wall as it will accentuate the length. Alternatively you'd normally paint the fireplace wall to highlight the feature. I think as you've got doors it should break it up a bit but I'd do the doors in the same colour. I would probably go for something a bit richer than pitch blue, like Hague blue. I know whose room that is you've pictured in the 2nd pic so will try and find the colour but am sure it was a valspar paint! You could also try downpipe which works well in a north facing room. I'd probably put these with warm whites/neutrals rather than grey. Elephants breath can work really well in a north facing room but can also just look grey and agree with littlesongs comments! You could also go dark on all walls and layer the lighting, add mirrors etc. Or if you decide light then people can make colour suggestions for that :)...See Moredaffodilpots

4 years agoYou could try a neutral such as Skimming Stone or Elephants Breath which both have some violet in them. They will relate to the tiles but not look too obviously violet. Here is Elephant's Breath F&B.
