North facing lounge
Comments (3)This is my a north facing lounge at present. Picture 1 shows the east facing window, picture 2 is the same window from the far end of the room and picture 3 is the north facing window. Any suggestions are very welcome! No have tried to bring warmth in with the curtains, but the walls just do not work!...See MoreAdvice on a 'warm' while for a noth-facing lounge
Comments (3)Hi @picasso28, Choosing the right paint for a north-facing room is potentially a tricky minefield of guess work! The problem with northern light is that it tends to be cooler and harsher and it often brings out the cooler tones within a colour. If you're going to opt for an off-white, avoid anything with a green or grey base. Yellow based colours such as Farrow & Ball White Tie, New White or even something as vibrant as Yellow Ground can help to bounce as much light around the room as possible. You can also help by hanging a mirror to further reflect the light you do have in place. Alternatively, you could go the other direction and embrace the darkness to create a dramatic and cocooning interior. Strong colours like Brinjal, Railings or Down Pipe can create a sense of intimacy in a dark space. We recommend ordering some sample pots in the colours you think might work and trying them on different walls in different parts of the room. Our sample pots are available with free UK Mainland delivery. We hope this helps! Regards KB...See MoreNorth facing lounge
Comments (7)I would also remove or change curtains. I'd go for a simple cream Roman blind. I would paint the walls an off white and use a wallpaper with a slight metallic print in it. Laura Ashley have some beautiful subtle ones. Change the rug to cream colours with maybe a hint of light Aqua/teal/duck egg and get cushions in matching colours. I would also put another mirror on the wall opposite the window to reflect any possible light. You could also pick accessories such as silvered glass candlesticks etc to also pick up any available light source....See Morepaint for north facing lounge
Comments (7)We also have a North facing lounge for which we wanted a warm, cosy feel as we only really use it in the evenings... We painted it Hague Blue and love the result! In the dining room we painted the ceiling Hague Blue too. Our kitchen is Green Smoke which is also a gorgeous colour and may go better with the grey sofas...? There are a couple of other greens I’ve seen and liked too but will have to find the names!...See Morechristal99
