Kitchen/living room redesign

Hi. We are thinking of knocking the wall between our kitchen/living area and conservatory to make it more open plan. I am struggling to decide what the best use of the space will be once the wall is down. Do we make the conservatory area into the dining space and the current living dining into purely living space. Where would the tv go? Is there a better layout for the kitchen?

This is a very popular choice at the moment; all open plan. Knowing someone who did it, they regretted it. Said they couldn’t get the huge area warm and the bill was big too.

Consider the insulation criteria in the conservatory as many do not equal what the standard home has.

Hmm considering the size of the property the kitchen does feel like it is undersized. I also slightly worry that a new addition to the back could create a further obstacle to the view. Could I please clarify - are you looking to refigure your existing living/dining/kitchen or are you looking to extend into the drawing room or the hallways? Do you fully use the room marked as a study? Could you extend into this space rather than adding a garden room? If you do build on and create a garden room where would you build? Would this negate the need for dining or living in the area we are discussing. It appears that the issue with the view is that the window with the kitchen sink is slightly set back so you have access down the side- Do you need that access? Could you go around the pool house? Could that kitchen window be built forward? Would a garden room further obscure the view? I think your property is inspiring- It seems like a project that would warrant a designer or concept planner to help you explore the many options- In the meantime I am sure that the Houzz community will have lots of ideas.

Thank you very much for your replies. @annabellaamy, hubby and I have now thought about this and we'd rather have a separate door for the lounge as it feels we wouldn't be able to fully utilise the dining space as we'd have to always walk through it (I hope that makes sense!). @Donna yes you are right, storage is really the biggest issue for us currently. As we really don't want a fully open plan space, I think I just have to resign myself to a small kitchen. The main things that bother me at me moment are: -we can't fully open the kitchen door as it hits the cabinets on the left, we don't have a dedicated cabinet or floor space for the bin, so every time we open the freezer, bin has to e moved out of the way. -We absolutely need more freezer space, I was originally thinking of a deep freezer, but a upright freezer with drawer would probably be a far better option. We're now considering possibly extending the kitchen, just up to the dining room store area, getting rid of the store door and instead having under stairs storage drawers that would open into the newly extended hallway. What do you guys think?
