Floor tiles - Fired Earth / any thoughts?

I’m trying to work out what floor covering to go throughout the whole of my bungalow - suitable for living room, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. I’ve been considering luxury laminates (tiled as a click system and also as a stuck down laminate sheet) and engineered wood. Renently I‘ve seen some FIred Earth tiles printed to look like wood. They look really good, but I was wondering whether they might be too cold without under floor heating? Has anyone got any experience of such tiles or have views about what you would choose in my situation? Are they durable? Do they crack?

Lots of people do like ceramic tiles and they are very nice.. for me, I’d find them waaaay too cold! (Without underfloor heating) But then I seem to temperature regulate through my feet... if they’re cold I’m cold, so nearly always need to wear slippers! But I also like sitting on the floor sometimes so would want something warmer or at least a rug in living areas

Porcelain wood look tiles are very popular now and my sister has them in her open plan kitchen. Is that what you mean? My sister does have under floor heating with them. Her hallway does not have underfloor heating and you really feel the difference when you step out there, even with a radiator on. I personally wouldn’t have them in a living room, but great for a kitchen. Without UFH they are very cold. My sister has carpet in the living room, stairs and all the bedrooms.

Very interesting comments Bagpuss, thank you. I guess its not too late to change the furniture order! I would have never thought to use ivory furniture so that's definitely something to think about and I'm all for bringing in more light. I am planning ivory furniture for our living room, hallway and bedroom too (I love ivory furniture), so thought we'd do something different in the dining room. The walls are light too (off white/ nearly ivory) - that's another issue as I'm not sure that colour is suitable or needs to be changed. I actually thought (hoped!) the Mango furniture would create a contrast with the flooring as opposed to a clash and there are some (albeit few) darker tones in the mango furniture that match the flooring so there is a bit of a connection (or so I thought). And it sounds like I'll definitely need to rethink the fireplace altogether!

Help!!! Off-white hex floor tiles clash with white wall tiles/plumbing

Jonathandb1972, I was thinking of going with a grout that is the same colour or lighter than the grey tile. The hex will be grouted in a medium grey. This has already been done in the loo (the hex) and looks great. Neither are grouted in the above picture. Do you think there will still be issues with where the grout lines are if they are the same or lighter than the tile? Also, where the hex tile in the shower meets the grey tile will mainly be covered by the shower's profile. However, the shower only goes up to about 2m, so there will still be a visible "meeting" of tiles above that. My builder is a little concerned about how this will look as he will have to cut small pieces of tile to fill up the edge, which may stain once they start grouting. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for the best...

Hi, I think Vinyl flooring is great if laid properly in the kitchen, especially Luxury vinyl tiles as they are warmer to the touch than, say porcelain tiles or a stone floor. For me, The main brands when considering LVT are karndean and amtico; they can be a pricey investment, especially if budget is tight but once laid properly they are super resilient and hard wearing (similar to flooring in supermarkets) and don't lift when in contact with water (subject to high quality fitting) and so will last you a long while. Amtico and karndean come in a variety of colours styles and design but most commonly wood or stone effect. Good Luck A x
