How to decorate our bedroom??
Comments (6)Hello laine_bedford, Congratulations on moving into your new home! Definitely an exciting time for you and your family, and understandably a difficult task to start your re-decoration process. Here are some pointers: STEP 1: Get Inspired! - Create your own ideabook: - On the Houzz search bar, lookup 'Bedroom' and 'Hotel Room' and filter by your preferred design style; contemporary perhaps? - Please visit our page and check out our ideabook titled 'Creative Headboards'. STEP 2: Select Your Color Scheme! - Base Colour: Most 5 Star Resorts stick to neutral/earth tone colours, choosing to add splashes of colour through use of accessories (bed cushions, artwork, bed throw etc). However, main furniture (bed, bedside tables, table lamps, wardrobes and so forth) remain neutral and either all the same colour or similar. Same applies to the walls; neutral/earth tones. - Accent Colour: As recommended above, have fun choosing a colour(s) that you've been inspired by for your bedroom accessories. This can also apply to your feature wall (where the bed headboard would go). STEP 3: Set You Budget! - Once you know how much you're willing to spend, only then can you make interior decoration decisions (type of headboard/extent of headboard, type of wardrobes, customised built-in-seating in the bay windows, curtains vs. blinds, carpet or wood flooring with rug(s) etc). STEP 4: Source Your FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures & Fittings) - Make a list of all the things you would need to purchase, prioritising the main pieces (bed, wardrobes etc) and, dependent on your budget, the stores you would need to visit. - Don't forget the bed linen; if you really want the contemporary 'hotel' look, stick to whites. Hope the above helps to get you started. We would be delighted to help you further so please do not hesitate to contact us....See MoreHow would you design this master bedroom space?
Comments (10)Hiya, Ok so I've converted your measurements into mm so these are equivalent to ft, in drawing we use mm. So I think you will need to close off two windows to the east side to get a decent size walk in wardrobe. I've tried to leverage the longest wall in the bedroom without losing too much floor space. I've added your bed with some bedside tables and as you can see you have plenty of space still around you. Keeping the south side patio doors as that will give you light throughout the day. In terms of your walk in wardrobe I played with different sizes and came up with 50-70-50mm dimensions, you could go bigger or smaller as you have plenty of room. Although I would allow 1metre gap between your bed and the wardrobes otherwise it could get a bit crammed. Also think it would be useful and nice to have a little seat to put on shoes etc. you could even add a seat on the opposite side if you wanted. Allowing to entrances to your walk in wardrobe allows light to flow from one side to the other and it doesn't block your patio doors either. I've added lots of dimensions hope this helps! Comments (51)Yes you’re right about that Love your home bed, the wings are deeper than our wardrobes (which are half recessed) so if we had little shelf bedsides they’d be really hard to reach, we‘d have to sit up and reach around the wings. If I’m honest I don’t think we can face doing anything too complicated like false wall or moving the sockets to allow for the full width headboard! New lights.... maybe... husband is predictably Not Keen. So, I think that boils it down to the naturalmat Prideaux bed, in linen 😁 with the bigger headboard size if they will do that. I’m up for painting that section of wall though - we could either use the mid grey green shown on the door, or a much darker grey green (the mid is Blanket and the dark is Squid Ink, both Paint & Paper library). If we use the mid paint then the bed colour would be dark and vice versa. Linen curtains - need to look at all my samples in the room later on today! Not heard of vinterior, I will have a browse. 😁 Yes I hope the cat is real!...See MoreHow can I redesign/ decorate this bedroom
Comments (4)Here’s some ideas of bright modern bedrooms. They’ve used off white or pale taupe on the walls and just added colour with the furniture and bedding. Is this the sort of thing you like? The last picture uses a bit more colour but only in the bedding. Love the dark furniture and ceiling fan, giving it a tropical vibe. A soft grey more girly look, Gorgeous taupe panelling which the bedding echoes. Chucking some contrasting colour out there!...See MoreK Tam
