I tend to go on ebay for cheap poly/cotton duvet covers, which don't last as long as linen but allows me to change my room a bit cheaply and easily. However, I've never noticed just how gendered bedding is, nor how horrible the 'masculine' options are. Single colour tartan duvet cover or camoflage? Euuuch. I did find a few nice duvet covers which didn't feature flowers, butterflies or 'bling'.
