TV bench for living room corner

I want to get a bigger tv and replace my current TV bench. The corner i want to put the bench into is a 4ft * 5ft space with a radiator along the 5ft wall.

I would ideally like to out the new TV bench along the 5ft wall in front of the radiator and not in the corner at an angle. I would then angle the TV on the TV bench.

My concern is that the depth of the new bench would be a descent size to accommodate a larger say 50" tv. I haven't come across any furniture that 'fits the bill' for my requirements so i have come to Houzz looking for some inspiration.

I have attached a few pics of the corner in question as it currently is.

The Cotswold Co have some nice tv cabinets, whether they will fit is another matter! Here’s a couple of larger units to fit your new tv, which will be huge. Do you really need such a big tv?

I think your TV size suits the corner right. I think a bigger TV just would look really out of place in the corner. Do you have another area you could put a bigger TV?

A big portrait oriented mirror above the fireplace, maybe like a window pane mirror. Have a coffee table, cabinet or a plant holder in the bay window and you will balance that area. I think the window and the fireplace are should be the focus of the room. The space feels smaller because the focus at this moment is wrong. If you get a sofa with a lower back than the chairs that you have now, the pictures on the wall to the right of the fireplace, the light and the table behind will create a different feel of the space. I think this the optimal way. This way you have a functional table/desk with a view, and more seating possibilities. Another idea is that you could get a two-seater and a chase lounge combination, push it all the way to the radiator (but then I would suggest to swap the door opening to the wall, rather than into the room. Put a folding table like this one into the alcove with a shelf above it. I wouldn't put a floor bookshelf as you would use the valuable floor space, use wall shelves to put your books and plants.

Hi Sophie, so sorry to be a pain but we would need all the dimensions and where the window are on the wall, and the width of the windows and doors, like this:- metres and cm's are easier. I guessed:- So i made the entrance in to a reading area with bookcases and an armchair. Followed by a good desk to break up the long wall, leading to a seating area overlooking the garden. Tucked around the corner is the T.V area.

It depends on how big the room is, how light or dark the walls are and the type of spots. Abigail Aherne has a huge lounge with dark walls. She has 17 lamps in there! Lots of different types of lighting seems to be the best. You can get dim to warm spots, we have just bought some (Philips) and they are a game changer. Tala do gorgeous bulbs which again are high CRI and a lovely warm (but not yellow) glow. They also do pendant lights. I think certain downlighters can work in a lounge if they are strategically placed to highlight specific features, otherwise lamps are much better.

See how you go with the plant. What direction you take will rest on how you like your room to feel. A simple plant with a piece of art above for a clean simple feel in a more Scandi manner, or find items such as Sonia's bookcase and reading chair suggestion to help fill the room for a more layered feel.. Take your time building your room with pieces you like - a room with pieces you have collected will be warmer to you than a currated room that doesn't speak to you. Often times when we move the starkness of a new location makes us feel we need to fill, it will fill organically over time and then you'll think how did it end up with so much!

It's a tricky one as tv's shouldn't be put in front of radiators. If this is the only place it can go, maybe you could paint the radiator in the wall colour so it looks better aesthetically. Personally I'd go for a corner stand. This one is from Swoon and is 130cm wide at the front. A 42inch tv should look fine on it? Just not sure if it matches the decor

Put the TV and an arm that can be angled but keep the furniture below parallel to the wall
