what to do with chimney breast? How to make it attractive feature?
Comments (2)I don't know about Sky I'm afraid - but the ergonomics of putting a tv above a fireplace would suggest that you need to be sitting in a higher than average sofa - ( to save getting a stiff neck ) and you would need a fireplace that's a feature rather than one that kicks out proper heat - as you could damage your tv if it's above the fire as heat rises !!...See MoreAdvice how to make gravelled front garden more attractive?
Comments (14)Thanks everybody. Really helpful advice and links. I think I will dig and plant in rather than trying pots. I previous didn't as around the house there is a good 20cm of concrete that meets the gravel. Hopefully this won't be much of an issue as it will grow over it as such. Perhaps some shrubs and different height plants in front of the house, and some other planting in front of the porch? I haven't thought of what in front of the porch yet. I will look into putting small hedging in front of the gravel. Fingers crossed that will bring it more to life than it looks at present!...See MoreHelp needed with ideas to expand kitchen/living room area please
Comments (2)Ideas: On the second pic towards the kitchen I'd consider removing the breakfast bar completely and a table against the right hand wall. Bench on the wall side. somehow redefine the kitchen vs. front room so the front room space runs right up to the door - some colour in the alcove perhaps? Hang the door on the other side so it still opens into the room but covers up the kitchen when sitting in the lounge so you FEEL like your in the lounge and not the kitchen? What is the glass wardrobe/cabinet on the side of the kitchen - can that go - to open up space and a sideboard instead? or at least low level only. To my eye (and I dont like too much open plan) its like the open plan has got you already and the kitchen is invading the living space!...See MoreHow can I make this area seem brighter?
Comments (9)It’s a big job but painting the woodwork, including the stairs banister would help to brighten it, as would a repaint of the walls - you could try Dulux light & space paint. Also, have you tried a different lightbulb? Yours looks very yellow. A whiter light or ‘daylight’ bulb might help. Strategically placing a mirror or mirrors would help to bounce light around from other rooms with windows. If your budget allows for more, you could consider a sun tunnel though I imagine it would need professional installation. https://www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-Flexible-Sun-Tunnel-Including-Slate-Flashing---350mm/p/158999?fix&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIr8X65suB-QIVUOrtCh1CUgxNEAQYBSABEgKDkPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds...See MoreRose La Rocque
