Hi HU-849894587 If you are unsure about Shutters, another product that we see a lot of people selecting when they have windows like yourself is Venetian blinds. Hi. We have a similar light to the one in the image but it cannot be controlled by a switch. Ours uses a movement sensor only and cannot be changed to support a switch like several others out there so that would be the first thing to check. If you have a light then CAN be controlled by a switch, then you can use a switch from someone like lightwaveRF : https://www.lightwaverf.com/solution/smart-home/. I have some of these in my bedrooms and they can be controlled with a remote control as well as a smartphone app (requires a central internet device).

What did everyone do re aircon or blinds? We were considering renting our house out at some point but it gets hot in summer which is not an issue for living here as you can open the doors slightly and it cools straight away but for guests - it's not that easy. Thinking of blackout blinds for sleeping but are there sheer ones which keep the light but reflect the heat?? Also aircon - anything not big and ugly that would work in a large open plan room?

Since there is an acre with this property have you considered a garden room addition with a saniflo type toilet? Could be standalone guest quarters used for other purposes when not in use? It’s just I’ve learned re-jigging existing space is expensive and here I don’t think re-jigging will get you optimal bedrooms so maybe spend money on brand new garden room?
