Design Dilemma Home Decorating

help needed with study

Having worked from home I need to change the layout of my study
I had my desk right next to the window and back towards the door and it wasn’t working for me.
The shelf was by the door and the chair in the corner by the lamp
The furniture that will need to go in is the desk chair desk a book case and the rattan chair
Please can you assist will be really greatful

Back to the door is always a bit odd to me. So move desk round to under the window (so you can look out) put the bookcase behind you on the right hand wall, then move the cane chair to the left under the mirror? Assuming it will fit?

I would draw out the room's dimensions on paper, label the door and window and then make cut outs of the furniture. Use that to try out different arrangements.

That is a better shaped sofa a more modern shape, in my opinion of course. Going down that theme personally I would go for some modern art... it is obviously impossible to predict what your taste in art is but if you stick to neutral tones it's a start. Size... again difficult as I have no dimentions, but here's an idea on a style from my portfolio: I'll guess this is too deep and long but it's a question of style and colour first the rest can come later. Most artists, including me will be happy to work with you on something that fits the space perfectly and that will need some discussion in the privacy of email or telephone.

How large is the bed in the master bedroom? If it is a standard size double you may wish to consider reconfiguring to fit a superking bed. This could be achieved by reducing the height of the 'his dressing' cupboard (assuming you have no full-length garments), something which may make it easier to fit larger rooflights (if allowed). As minnie101 points out the existing floorplan gives you loads of storage but do you need it all? A more radical step could be to share the 'hers dressing' 50:50, have built-indrawers running along the top of the property (where 'his dressing' is), make the top right storage area smaller (or even eliminate), and have even larger windows/rooflights than One Plan suggested.

Sometimes there is. If you tap on the photo it will enlarge and a more info sign will appear in the bottom corner. Tap on that and sometimes there is more information about used products and colours. You can also ask questions, but not every designer answers them. But you can at least see the photos as a source of inspiration.
