help with tiny utility / wc

Hi - we are just about to change downstairs flooring and are now looking whether we can reconfigure utility room to make better use of the tiny space, such as moving the door.
We are stuck for ideas as behind the loo we have electrical box high on the left and underfloor heating manifold low on the right. These cannot be moved and need to be accessed.
We also have the washing machine in here free standing at the moment, but would prefer to put into housing.

Can anyone help with new ideas please?

Hi,
Could the washing machine be relocated elsewhere within the house, and relocate the door? you will then have a better space in front of the sink and WC and also a better access. Do you have a wider plan? Would this be an option?

Thankyou for your feedback. No unfortunately the washing machine needs to stay in this room as we have limited space elsewhere. The door can move to the side you have shown though if needed, which is just the l shaped hall. As said we have new flooring in about 4 weeks so want to settle on door position prior to this if possible.

I would actually move the sink and toilet to the long wall opposite the door, and stack up the washing machine and dryer (if you have one) in that corner between the toilet and basin. There will then be loads of storage space on top of the up to 2m long worktop you can have in whichever combination you want. The smallest space for a toilet and basin in my opinion is only 1.2m, so you can have 0.8 to plan for other sort of floor length storage should you wish or a long worktop which is my preference. In the past I have used the MyPlan series from the Bathstore and I find them really reliable and flexible and suits almost any dimension - they do 30, 40, or 60 floor and wall units with or without mirrors, and 1.2, 1.5 or 1.8 polymarble worktop. So if you want to do this you will need to put a sprinkler system in when you do your loft conversion - wet glass steps are going to be a bit slippy - so I'd suggest you think really carefully about this whole concept ! ( sorry ) As an alternative - You could look at adding daylight lighting in the front of the hall instead - ie bright lighting that's on a timer to only be on during daylight hours - then replaced by soft evening lighting at the end of the day - could be a lot safer ! And less expensive ! You will need to protect the escape route with I think it's 30min Fire doors to the hall ... check with your local planning and regs department for confirmation of the exact requirements for your situation.

mate...i Iive in nz. in Christchurch we had a wood burning fire , where we live now..way at the top where the lions were on the weekend...no heating needed!!!! we do have double glazing and our house faces the sun, and the sun gives off heat here in the winter so it warms it all day unlike some peoples winter sun! but go with whatever is the best for your furniture . ...and budget !

If you can move your loo across slightly to one side then this would give you a lot more scope for a sink. If not then we fit a wc and sink into our old house wc which looked narrower than your room! We had a wall hung cloakroom sink which was tiny and super narrow with the tap on one side. Didn't get in the way really. Will see if I can find a picture of what I mean

Sorry we misread! Ok so housing is a great idea, and in fact, you could probably take that all the way down the right hand side, enclose the manifold (but keep it accessible) and have a full wall of storage for towels, laundry basket soaps etc without needing to move the door
