Platform Bed and Bench

Hello everyone,

I'm getting a platform bed for my guestroom. This the the bed I'm getting::

I would like to put a bench at the foot of the bed so the guests can place their luggage on. The problem is the top of the bench will be higher than the bed with a mattress.

I checked the internet for pictures of platform beds, and noticed most of them do not show a bench with the bed.

Would it look odd to place a bench at the foot of the platform bed?

Consider an ottoman or bench instead. They are shorter.

Thanks very much for both of your replies, both links are very helpful! I went to bo concept to check theirs today and get a price, they have obscure mattress sizes and it was almost £1000 with slats and £1400 with the storage draw, so I think I'll pass on that one!

Hi Louise, It's always a good idea to go full width, but people often go only half as this is the only way the extension can qualify as an approved development. F.ex if you have a smaller garden, your new extension can't steal too much of that space without a full planning permission. The other obvious reason is of course the cost. If you have enough garden space, a 3m extension would fall under permitted development, so as long as you convince the planners on this, you'll have one worry less. Of course it's a good idea to keep your neighbours in the loop, they often appreciate it. If you guest room has a closet, put a folding wood luggage rack in the closet. Use the space you've saved for a comfortable chair.
