I need a bespoke staircase into my attic.

The entrance to the attic is in a central position at one end of the landing . I want a staircase-narrow that is attached to the side wall and it needs to get wider nearer the entrance to the attic to get through and up into the attic. I am struggling finding or seeing a staircase on these lines. The steps can't be any wider than 16inch. I have already finished and carpeted the attic so moving the hole entrance nearer the wall is an issue.

A vertical column radiator would indeed be a good option, and I like the anthracite idea. Alternatively, if you could find a traditional tall victorian radiator (may not be easy to source) and finish it in a bronze/verdigris, it could work really well with your dark mint and would be a real statement! Your staircase is lovely, and I would go with a contemporary striped runner, white painted sides and a simple rod.

Hello pl_smith, I like the sound of that! :)) Well you can try a few places... get some samples and see what feels right.. There's a company called http://www.nakedflooring.co.uk/ or http://www.alternativeflooring.com/collection/naturals There is also 1 I found from the link Minnie sent you http://www.floormats.co.uk/stairtreads/stair-treads-rectangular-1/sisal-stair-tread-sets This doesn't have a fabric or leather boarder but looks woven like you mentioned earlier.... The best examples I found were from Natural Home Rugs which is an American site as they have the boarder I mentioned. I am certain though that you will be able to have the same thing produced here if you like it. What I would do is give several places a ring and explain what you're looking for and get some quotes... May be that you can get some discount on quantity.... I think Naked Flooring is a good place to ask. Coir is a favourite Superior black sisal weft is one I have asked for before, and I do remember discussing boarder colours for a rug I had made for a client. I think it was the same place but it was a year ago.. : ))

You can’t have 400mm wide. 600mm is the narrowest you can do to service one room. What you need is what is called winders. These will take you across to the other side. A good joiner will be able to quote for them. However what headroom do you have? You have to consider this too or they won’t work.
