internal tall doors manufacturers UK?

Hi Houzz community, does anyone know a manufacturer of high quality, modern, tall, flush internal doors? Our ceilings are 3 meters and we’re thinking of going full height. Really struggling to find anything by googling it. Also looking for tall sliding doors for a large opening between kitchen and living room. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Good question ... I would suspect commercial suppliers would be keen to help ... hopefully this gives your question a bump and a door supplier will see it !

Looks good although I have a few comments/suggestions: 1) 1300 doesn’t seem much for an ironing board, ours is 1700 2) Cleaning products are going to be a pain to reach Suggestions to fix these problems 1). Make all the shelves less than full depth, ie 450 deep, then you have space to hang the ironing board on the back of the door. 2) Put bucket and laundry basket (large lightweight items) up high above the microwave and cleaning products down low instead. Another suggestion: I have seen pictures of a pull out rail for mops, brooms, vacuum sticks like this one https://www.simplygoodstuff.com/store-n-slide.html. I can’t find one available to buy in the UK, but it should be fairly easy to make one by buying a non sliding mop/broom wall rack and attaching it to a drawer runner, and then screw the runner to one side of your tall slim space. This will make it much easier to access your mop etc and means you can get away with a slimmer tall space and wider shelves.

Hello Colour Happy, Thank you so very much for commenting on my post. We are leaving the woodwork skimming stone as we have it throughout the house and all internal doors are skimming stone too, it actually looks less cold in the nursery for some reason, I’m not sure why? I would love to go for a very light taupe, as that’s what the skimming stone looks like in the natural light. I’ve taken some more pictures. We only have a local paint shop open so are fairly limited to what we can get at the minute due to the lock down as we’d rather sample it first. I’m thinking we may just choose a Dulux colour incase we hate it and then we’ve not wasted a fortune on farrow and ball. We will only be painting the two plastered walls. I love the idea of a striped carpet, I may look at cancelling our order and have a look into this. I have to avoid loops due to a naughty Persian cat! I love buff wicker and we are planning on ordering a huge wicker toy box, I think this will add texture and a bit of warmth too and match his Moses basket. Although I am sat in here now, the room doesn’t feel too bad although it’s very white his taupe furniture warms it up. The cot matches the linen and the colour on the chair too. I’m still so confused! Love the idea of a painted ceiling but we don’t fancy going up there at the min! I’d love to paper one wall and I’d picked the b and q watering hole paper in the cream but it’s out of stock now. Thanks so much for all your advice. Xx

As you correctly state, in the UK most kitchens are based around a 150mm legs/plinth, 720 cabinet and a 40mm worktop making 910mm, there may be a few variations of this, ie howdens have a 160 ish plinth, b+q have taller cabinets for their true handleless at 754mm plus plinth making 942mm including 40mm worktop. I've in the past when a customer has requested taller worktop height, i've offered 200mm tall legs and plinth and kept standard sized base units at 720mm, but this also keeps the costs down. The other way to add height is to alter the worktop height, with wood worktops a half decent fitter could increase the worktop thickness easily by sandwiching strips underneath so you could have a prep area of raised worktop, for granite and quartz its quite easy to make it look much thicker in fabrication (except for curves) But looking at german kitchens, I sometimes copy Nobilia cabinet sizes, they have XL base cabinet sizes at 792mm tall and then they offer plinth heights of 70, 100, 150 and 200mm, they don't though add extra drawers, but just change the size of the facia's, so in theory you could have a 992 tall unit with a 40mm worktop. I should imagine other german kitchens offer the same. But if you were to contact a local independant supplier or you can direct message me, i can design a kitchen to suit your requirements. The limitations though are the doors available and how much a designer can think outside the box. Many of the doors i use are available in made to measure sizes so i can get my cabinets made to suit and its not as expensive as it sounds. With regards to selling the property afterwards, i go into a lot of kitchens to survey and when i say to clients your kitchen units are high or low they really don't realise, i then explain and show them how a 'standard' kitchen would be and give them the option of keeping the height they're used to, explain how it would look and the options to get it or changing to a 'standard' height. So when it comes to selling i don't think most people would notice within reason and since the 60's i believe average heights have increased so it may be the kitchen industry thats not keeping up.
