Tumble dryer in dining room

Hello,We live in a 1930s semi and have just recently knocked our kitchen through into the dining room.The problem we have is that there is no space for the tumble dryer - at the moment it is freestanding in an alcove.Has anyone had the same situation? Wondering how to conceal the dryer or build a cupboard around it? Problem is that it clashes depth wise with the chimney breast and fireplace.Many thanks in advance

what about ventilation for the dryer? Can it be stacked over the washing machine in the kitchen?

I don't know if this will help - but we did have the same issue in the same type of house. What we did - there was a bathroom downstairs (these builds usually originally had one bathroom and it was downstairs). We took out the sink in that bathroom, put the washer & dryer in that area, and then installed a customer countertop above the washer & dryer. We added a sink (like a large butler sink) on top of this countertop with the plumbing going in between the washer & dryer. So the downstairs bathroom became a bathroom / utility room. If you still have a similar configuration with a full bath downstairs, this might work for you.

Thanks all :) Nicolakwai, I had a quick google and the Hoover washer dryer does look great, but because I already have a really good washing machine (plumbed in, in a cupboard in my bathroom) I'm really reluctant to get a washer dryer too. I may end up with a vented one at this rate and a nice hole in my kitchen wall! Kitchen planning is certainly not turning out to be as fun as I'd hoped lol!

We have a washer/drier and it's perfectly fine. In the past we'd had one which wasn't too good on drying so we went to 2 separate machines. Anyway, before this house we were in rented for a while with a good washer/drier so decided to get one for this house. There's just the two of us so we don't have huge wash loads but it does a good job on the bedding which is a full load. But don't go for the cheapest. False economy. Ours is a Siemens iSensoric. Worth the outlay for us.

Right, so to begin with I would completely get ride of the curtains covering your selves and have sliding doors installed. The reason I say sliding doors is to help maximise your space. I would also have the walls repainted or even covered in a bold printed wallpaper - this'll help add life and character to the small space. Check out Cole & Son for some fab paper or Farrow and Ball for amazing paint. In terms of the cloakroom area, I wouldn't change much as the space is already quite tight. I would simply advise you to continue the colour/paper from the restroom throughout. Depending on your budget, I would advise you to have a smaller sink and a back to wall wc installed which will also help maximise space. Hope you find this info useful and good luck!

hi ... will depend on the machine and its guidelines - but as a rule - most appliances work better in temps of 5degrees plus ... My freestanding Beko heat pump dryer says needs 5degrees of temp to work and 1cm either side of any cabinetry - so a build-in laundry cabinet like the Neptune one will be ok - as long as you leave the door open while its in use. Thank you both for your suggestions - unfortunately there is no space in the kitchen, the washing machine is already under the stairs with the toilet but will try explore stacking them and reconfiguring the space. Hopefully it works!
