Walk in wardrobe dilemma
Comments (16)Yes, the second pic is how it is now, but it doesn't work. There's no wall for a dressing table (it's currently half in front of the window but blocks wardrobe access), and my husband would like a tv in a normal place, currently on the window wall right next to the head of the bed, so barely watchable. The wardrobes are ok, but that's the only storage we have and they need improving if nothing else. I just feel there's so many 'little' things wrong I'd like to find a wider solution. Thanks everyone for commenting....See MoreDilemma - need ideas for old hot water cupboard/wardrobe
Comments (6)Thank you ok this is what I think you may be able to do, If the platform can be removed the use this side (the widest side for two hanging rails one above the other approx 1 metre in between, On the narrow side, left of door, use this space to create shelving floor to ceiling this can follow along the back wall opposite the door with a supporting side to hold them. This gives double the hanging space and loads of shelf storage for bedding and the things already stored. The hanging side will only take up approx 600 mm depth from wall so you will also have space to store any freestanding tall items that will not fit on the shelves. Shelves could be spaced at 300 mm apart depending on what you need to store. Hope this helps....See MoreBedroom wardrobe dilemma- help design storage
Comments (7)Hi, not sure why the alcove near the bed can’t have ceiling height wardrobes? Are you worried that the wardrobe will hit the bed, is that the problem? Maybe sliding doors would be better? I had fitted wardrobes installed by Sharpes, and the salesman was really helpful in configurating how it should all fit, including an awkward stair box area. He really knew his stuff. Am very pleased with the wardrobes, all built bespoke by an amazing carpenter. We were very impressed! Hopefully you will get lots of advice on here, and maybe you should get some companies/carpenters in to measure and quote. Mine cost just over £3000 for 6 and a half doors, rails, shelving etc....See MoreFitted wardrobes in new house how do I modernise?
Comments (4)It’s a dilemma, isn’t it, when something is too good to rip out but really not your style? If you can’t keep the wardrobes in the single room, could you use those spare units to fill in the bit in the main bedroom where overhead lockers and dressing table bit are? So you end up with one interrupted row of useful wardrobes. I think the layout is what looks so dated. You’d have to move your bed to the other side of the room of course (and maybe remove some of the other units to make space) but you’d not then be sleeping with an oppressive row of cabinets over your head. I would want to paint those doors or cover them with fabric, but there are loads of people with experience about that who will be along to help no doubt....See MoreHU-133432064
