Design Dilemma Kitchens

Kitchen Under Cabinet lighting

Hello. We are installing a new kitchen and am looking for recommendations of undercabinet strip lighting. You will be able to see the lighting because the wall cabinet design we have chosen does not have a lower plinth. I am looking of a continuous strip of warm white lighting under the wall cabinets. 3d image below of kitchen layout.

Any recommendations appreciated!

You can get aluminium profiles which are designed to be recessed into the underside of the cabinet. That way you will have nothing sticking out. However this is only possible if your cabinet is thick enough so that it will still be strong enough once the strip is carved out. Do you know the cabinet thickness?

The other option which I think looks quite neat is a quadrant profile, so like a quarter of a cylinder shape, all the way along where the splashback meets the upper cabinets. We have this in our utility and it looks good.

LED strips for low level cupboard/island plinths have their merits in showcasing themselves, however aren't necessary if the space already houses good lighting from overhead lights or natural lighting. However, using under cabinet lighting underneath wall units works particularly well when the main lighting isn't required and the occupants wish to have a dimmer atmosphere. They can also serve the purpose of providing necessary light for worktops when being used for cooking etc. www.pwjarchitects.com

We have these......we had a long reel of it ( not the little pack of four as shown - just can't find it ), you get a remote and can change the hue to suit . You can have them on 3 different settings for each colour, ie soft, medium, strong etc - We mainly use the white or the cream depending on night and day. Every now and then we go mad and have Lilac...........works well with grey, turquoise is nice too. Clearly white or cream is better, we have them above and below the counter top, and they match well on white with the spots and the cooker lights.

Everyone really seems to be "pro" tape strips! When I've costed it up, it's roughly the same to do both sides with LED linkable striplights, as is to do tape ones (after factoring in extra drivers and aluminium ducting profiles etc). Given that the LED linkable stiplights put out loads more light (35W for the 2.7m cabinets) vs tape lights which seem to be 10-15W over 5m (so approx half that for my cabinets), why would I want to go with tape? Are there any advantages of tape over striplights (other than being able to fix it flexibly round bends)?

We have ours on the counter but no cupboard above it. However, if you wanted to leave it under the cupboard then an alternative would be to attach a barrier under the cupboard to protect the wood? Ie thin sheet of metal or perspex or something like that that isn't noticeable. Just an alternative idea....
