Furniture Design Dilemma Gardens

How to deccorate my garden? Need advice

I have difficulty in selecting a simple but comfortablepatio furniture for my garden. Could you give me some advice? I know a little about the design but I am not really good at it.

This is where we need to know more about your hedge which I can't tell from the photo. If it's Leylandii you cannot cut it behind the last green shoot because it will not re-shoot and you'll be looking at a brown curtain forever. If it's brown because it's diseased then that is another problem altogether! My suggestion is you join the Royal Horticultural Society and then send them a sample of the dead clipping for them to pronounce upon! I can't tell you about diseases for sure and not at a distance. You'll also get plenty of plant advice from them generally. www.rhs.org.ik you'll be in safe hands there (it's only about £40 per year and has other benefits too. Good luck.

Don't use weedkiller in any circumstances, it pollutes your environment, kills insects , bees, mycelium etc and gets into the food chain. The best way to get rid of weeds is to alter your attitude to them . The definition of a weed is an unwanted plant. So ... here,s what to do.Dig out any large perrenial weeds. As previous comments , rotovate soil to remove any compaction. Add topsoil and add sharp sand. So here,s the thing , if you regularly mow your lawn i.e. once a week , it will kill the weeds, because unlike grass most plants cannot sustain being repeatedly cut back,and don,t worry about the odd weed here and there

Garden room landscaping advice needed!

Following on from my post some time ago we have started the hard landscaping part. We have decided to extend the patio at both sides. We have the maple tree one side so there isn’t much we can so that side but I am hoping to have my outdoor table on the other side. My dilemma is the platform/patio is about 4ft above the lawn area. With a toddler I’m trying to make it more child friendly. I’m wondering if there will be too much of a drop off the patio onto the steps? I’m planning on having a lower level planter below the patio. Hoping that will soften the fall if someone did rum off the top of the patio! Or do I build a narrowish planter to run along the edge to stop kids going off the edge!! Looking for inspiration!!

Hi I agree it is a bit big to be called a hallway, however, on either side of it I have a snug with lots of book shelves and my favourite books (first photo) and open fire and a sitting room again with an open fire. The kitchen is small and I have put an Ikea Island in the middle of it as a table would not fit, I also have a 'dining room' where our kitchen table lives, so we don't have much furniture left for our 'hallway'. My sofa is old and is going. But I leave the front big wood door open during the day and the glass porch door closed so I get light through this room, it is lovely in the morning, very bright and I would like to use it more. It just looks like a corridor at the moment. I also have a lovely easel which I would love to put in this area so I might be drawn to do some art.
