Help with ideas for complete renovation

First time posting so... Hello all!
I'm just in the process of purchasing my first detatched property. The whole place needs renovation so it's pretty much a blank canvas. Attached are layout plans, I'm pretty much set on the loft conversion as it'll be the cheapest way to add another bed, and maybe bathroom.
Otherwise there's a full depth garage on the right hand side of the current living room and there's scope to extend to the side and rear of the kitchen.My initial thoughts were to change the living room to a kitchen diner and put in larger doors and convert the garage to be part utility room. I'm having trouble with the downstairs WC though as I'm not sure I want it directly off the kitchen or living room and I don't know whether creating a hallway will cut down the space too much.
Anyway, I'm just at an early stage so there's ideas flying around all over. Any help anyone can give would be greatly appreciated!!Many thanks.

Get yourself a planning app and mock up the house and try with and without an internal hallway - if this is out of your comfort zone there are people ( like me) who do this for a living. But it’s also fun to try yourself - but do get things safety checked before you start doing any changes !

Hi Iona and thank you!!! I'm sure your house is going to look exactly how you'd like it and you'll enjoy it even more knowing how much thought you put into every little thing you've chosen. The jellyfish are mushrooms :)) My hubby and his brother love Susan Derges' photography (me too now!) - the mushrooms were bought at an auction. If you look again at the pics of our hallway, the blue print there is one of her camera-less photos; also the girl with the drops of water that's in front of the plant in the living room; as I said, we are all big fans of her work here :)) My brother-in-law spends most of his days on auction houses websites or browsing exhibitions... usually artnet is a good place to enquire about her photos http://www.artnet.com/artists/susan-derges/2 To be honest, until I met my guy and got sucked into 'the world of originals' (ha!) I agree with your idea, assuming you can't create a corridor for the bedroom. It does make the living area smaller than the bedrooms though although it will help being open plan. The hall seems unusually large, are you able to use this space as a dining area or study area for example? It may be nice for the teenagers to have a separate space to sit at times. On paper, there seems to be more than enough room for seating.

Chris. I think your tiles are a really nice choice and they will give you the classy feel that you want. Either format will be fine but the rectangular tiles fitted vertically will give the impression of greater height to the room. Clearly it’s a matter of personal choice but I think that the dark grey accents cheapen the class of the tiles and bring the room in. If you wanted to go for a contrast, maybe the vanity unit in a dark wood effect would look more classy. My other thought is that the room is maybe not big enough for the shower set up as you have it here. I think that water will splash beyond the screen and in front of the toilet. My thoughts are keep the open shower screen but go with a plain white porcelain shower tray with a slightly raised lip or keep the flooring consistent and opt for a frameless glass door which will keep the water in. Could be just me but I like to splash a bit in the shower and I think you’ll end up with water in front of your loo. Best of luck with the renovation. It’s going to look great.

You could perhaps use the downstairs WC as a small utility / laundry room.

True, would just about fit washer and dryer but would have to remove the window. Was also thinking a pantry would be nice. I don't think the loft conversion will be viable now so may have to extend to the side.
