Sealant for bottom of wooden window sill

the sealant has come away from the bottom of the window sill where it connects to the worktop in kitchen. What type of sealant should I use to re-seal this? I can’t tell what has been used before but know that I can’t use regular silicone on wood. Also because the sealant has come away, the wood effect viynl stuff that’s on the window sill is riding up, any tips for getting it to lay flat while the new sealant is drying?
Thanks
