Stainless steel in the kitchen - yay or nay?
Comments (23)A lot of people ask how easy it is to clean stainless steel [worktops]. The simple answer is 'very easy' and GEC Anderson recommend the microfibre cloths that have been mentioned by a number of contributors, in combination with cold water. Simply wipe down the worktop after use to prevent build up of streaks or marks - especially, in hard water areas. And that's it! Some words of caution probably should be taken into account before making a final decision as to whether stainless steel suits your lifestyle. Stainless steel is prone to attracting finger prints and marks and so the key here is to regularly wipe down the surface so as not to let dirt and extraneous material to build up in the first place. Another thing to consider is that stainless steel will scratch and mark over time. This is perfectly normal! Scratches and marks will build up over time, creating a unique patina appearance. Simply ignore them. Comments (65)Depending on how far you budget goes, I would look at adding traditional cornice and pelmet and replacing the plinth with a similar oyster colour. End panels for wall units could also be replaced / added. Some chessboard style tilling in 3 colours would also bring out the walls. It's hard to tell but is the oak surround also on the wall units? Comments (19)Sorry didn't mention it! I just wanted to share my experience with people from Houzz. I was in the renovation process with my wife and we spent a lot of money for the exterior job. My house is not the biggest one but it still cost a lot of money to make it look good, the roofing took me a good part of my money too, gardening was a little bit more expensive as I thought it would be. When we finished exterior work we still had to do the interior and here is where the war starts, you have to choose the wall painting, the flooring, bathroom, furniture and kitchen of course. Gladly the kitchen was done fast, we both found what we like the most, bespoke kitchens country style. The flooring took us a month, but gladly it was done good and I still love the floor heating system, the cellar is great too, it was done in 3 days. Comments (19)At the risk of being controversial, I wouldn't put very much faith, at ALL, in anything you see on Garden Rescue. Some of what they do is atrocious and will quickly fall apart. On a more constructive note, nobody ever seems to consider including a sink. If you have one it could be very useful fro food preparation as well a little bit of washing up, washing hands etc. I am going to find a stone sink for my garden. I will have it attached to a mains feed but one could have a sink on tank feed with an on demand pump supplying it....See MoreDaisy England

Lifestyle Kitchens. My customer is in communication with the worktop fitter. There is an upstand and its z crack not a joint that's over the dishwasher. The worktop goes into a window aperture. As the heat increases the crack increases and also has broken a joint 300mm to the left of the dishwasher. All I can say I'm glad I didn't fit the worktop.
I've fitted 30mm without any problems. This fitter was recommended by benchmark.
