need help decorating my north facing living room
Comments (14)Thank you yes, it is the room! I bought a tester pot of the F&B Strong White, but when tested it looked cream. I also bought the F&B Anthrocite which was a bit darker. Will try the Bone White also. Love the cushions in the pic - navy with the piping. Would also maybe like to go a bit darker on the back wall as in the pic but wondered if this might be too cold in a north facing room. I know that when the colours dry they appear darker and also in a larger space than just a test area, so may well try something along the lines of the Anthrocite....See MoreWarming up our lounge diner.
Comments (28)Hello 81bec, Well you don't need a lot on a sofa.. I tend to group them in 1's or 2's at the ends rather than along... The only place I can go ott is on a bed.. I digress..but I did a count and found I have 17 including 6 pillows! ; ) ) I think you will instantly see an uplift there on the sofa.. Also re the art work... Why not consider making your own? Canvases could be arranged in sizes and configuration you like and painted to blend with the walls they sit on.. Or why not use your colour scheme... Duck egg blue block colour with an old silver edging.. This could be a lovely way to bring the scheme in and not breaking the bank whilst doing it.. : ))...See MoreDark north facing bedroom - decor help please.
Comments (17)Hi Anna, I know it's a pain inheriting an outdated room but how exciting to make it your own! I think a scandi look would really energise and brighten this space too. Take a look at two rooms we have styled in this way. Our blinds fit perfectly in bay window areas allowing extra floor space and not blocking any heat from radiators. The blinds in the shoots are dim-out but if you have a north facing bedroom chances are it's cold so I suggest our Bloc Out blinds which not only provide total blackout for the bedroom but have been independently tested by The British Board of Agrément and are proven to reduce heat loss through the window by 43%. Comments (53)Dulux Rock Salt is a grey but off-white which reflects a lot of light but dries darker than a white. It joins warmer colours like blush or grape well and the Laura Ashley Garrat side table in honey you can see sits well too. It easily matches your marble but would join your tiles, accent wall and floor up I'm positive. This is in our westerly facing landing and stairs which doesn't get a massive amount of light; painted this week (so not quite finished). In my view, yellowy greys look more of a beige too and would look sickly with your other colours (the dust sheets you can see are creamy beige for context). Rock salt looks very clean without out being cold....See MoreRunning Girl
