examples of a dark grout with rustic/irregular edge subway tiles?
I am looking to use white handmade style rustic tile that have a slight irregular edge. this is for the shower and i really dont want to use a white grout soim looking at taupe/pewter/mid grey but im very worried how wobbly the grout lines could look. i would love to see some examples of people who have done similar?

3 years agoI have these in my kitchen with a mid grey grout, and it looks fantastic. Like you, my first instinct was to go white, and the tiler convinced me to use the same grout that had been used elsewhere in the kitchen. I’ve never regretted it, I think it really highlights the charm of these tiles.

Comments (38)I just wanted to share my experience because I am on a non existent budget too. I saw a picture of a bench I loved, contacted the carpenter, and he has just made me a birch ply kitchen for a total of 1600 euros, including fitting. (600 labour, 400 fitting, 600 for materials). He has kept his price low for me because he likes the project. I am guaranteed to use him now to build wardrobes, boxes, and shelving solutions as and when I have budget. Sometimes talking to individuals who work for themselves/do it on the side can result in very cost-effective solutions! I am paying 300 euros for brushed stainless steel countertops, and got a belfast sink for 100 euro including the mixer tap. Will send u a pic when it's done but my almost dream kitchen has been possible for like 2000 euros (£1800?) I wouldn't shy away from painting the units yourself as there are many tutorials online to show you how, but it is labour-intensive and eggshell paint on cabinets = drips!! You could always just get white or raw cabinets for now, and paint later when you have some cash? Make sure you use quality brushes if you go this route. Comments (34)Hi I recently painted the area between cupboards and worktop in a colour that was in some art work that was hung in the kitchen and sourced a 'cost effective' clear splash back to fit on top. Budget was tight so this worked well. Also just my opinion, the seamless splash back looks quite effective in a contemporary white kitchen rather than tiles. It continues the clean lines and modern look. If you're not keen on bright colours, a marble wallpaper with the clear splash back would also look luxurious and different. Comments (39)Jonathandb1972, I was thinking of going with a grout that is the same colour or lighter than the grey tile. The hex will be grouted in a medium grey. This has already been done in the loo (the hex) and looks great. Neither are grouted in the above picture. Do you think there will still be issues with where the grout lines are if they are the same or lighter than the tile? Also, where the hex tile in the shower meets the grey tile will mainly be covered by the shower's profile. However, the shower only goes up to about 2m, so there will still be a visible "meeting" of tiles above that. My builder is a little concerned about how this will look as he will have to cut small pieces of tile to fill up the edge, which may stain once they start grouting. 3 years agoThis isn’t a great photo, but this is my splash-back with near identical tiles. We went with a pale grey grout called Silver - and we still like it.

2 years agoWe have recently completed a project suing a handmade tile very similar to yours, but we went with white grout, and it looks great. it looks clean and elegant - i feel using darker grout sometimes gives the effect of the grout being dirty.
