What colour to paint our house? - Advice please

We have recently changed our window colours to a light grey (Painswick). I need advice on what to do with the outside paint colours - timbering, gable end and around windows. Any ideas would be most welcome. I am sure you are much more design savvy than me.

I think a continuation of the white that is on the top part of the house would set of the lovely colour of the windows. Something like sandtex 'cotton belt' or bedec 'old white'. Alternatively, a monocouche render in a light colour would look fantastic too and set of the grey green window colour.

On the paint manufacturers website There is a colour scheme for painswick which shows a lovely creamy coloured cill.

The timbers are a lovely feature too so perhaps just a freshen up along the lines of the existing colour. Maybe it's time to drive around your area and look at the colourways of the houses that you admire and just be a copy cat 😊

(near colour to Painswick)

I would pull tones from the brick, for the trim and render.

It will help to soften the facade with less contrast than there is now, giving greater emphasis to the windows and door.

First thing that makes the paper too busy is the stuffed room. So declutter. If nowhere else to put it, find a spacious cupboard/drawers. Paint it Yeabridge Green for example. Don't design around a sofa set you don't like. Find some pillows, rug and blankets that go well with the paper and floor. Make yourself a moodboard with curtains and such and then decide. Here are some F&B paint colors that could work well (I've tried them all, would not advise any other). Personally I like the first three on the left. Hi Ciara I love the idea of full height doors for the garage conversion but would consider the practicality of it, think about where the desk will go. It will not add to pavement appeal if the desk is against the glass and you can see the messy bits that tend to gather under a desk. Crittal style steel windows are exorbitantly expensive, but I agree with Jonathan the house lends itself to multi paned windows. You might want to look at good quality PVC options. I would suggest the roof gets a jet wash as the green moss should come off and reveal the colour of the roof.

Morning! What a great house! Older properties were often added to over time, and sometimes the most beautiful entrance wasn't at the front, as the more attractive aspect was through a manicured garden...equally you would have the day to day access (which we tend to use more these days), and the fancy imposing entrance reserved for special occasions....confusing! In short, I think you should design it to be sympathetic to the architecture and history, but to suit your needs. We use multiple cars and park outside our front doors because carry our own shopping, the Victorians didn't! I have dove grey handleless doors in my kitchen but have the same colour all round and on the island too. I painted the walls in Wevet which is almost a white but with a mere hint of grey. You can only really tell the grey tone when it’s against the white ceiling join. On the wall at the far end where the dining table is I have wallpaper to add a bit of interest. Perhaps these are options for you?

I’ve seen a lot of Tudor style houses where the black wood is painted either pale grey or taupe and I think it looks lovely. One of my local pubs has done the same during a recent refurb. It’s the last picture.
