New windows - New look
Comments (2)Hi Fiona, You can get the "small pane" effect with upvc windows.. When you have them made for you (which shouldn't cost much more than standard windows), they can put strips "within" the double glazing, which then gives the effect of small panes from a distance, but when you're cleaning your windows you're actually cleaning one large pane of glass. My advice would be, get as many quotes as you can for standard windows, then ask your preferred supplier to quote again, for the windows with the stripes in,...See MoreIdeas needed to improve exterior please - porch & windows! :)
Comments (4)I think it's safe to say that the crux of the matter is the 80's extension roof. If you're going to the trouble of a new extension then the roof needs to go and then both bits tied in properly. The doorway through to the back garden is too close to the Front door, and the roof is larger than that of the front door. They at the very least need to be identical sizes, or preferably under one roof the same pitch and proportions as that of the garage. The porch needs to be grander and centralised. I'm no expert plan drawer by any means, but i did a mock up of what i had in mind, the rest would be down to the architect and budget....See MoreNeed help with creating new window frames / window
Comments (7)Hi Fresh Kid, I'm a researcher with Openlight, a new startup looking to change the way homeowners buy and install windows in their home. We're at the very early stages of our business and looking to chat with people like you to learn more about your experiences and what can be improved. Would you be willing to have a conversation with us? Let me know and we can figure out the best way to get in touch. Thank you for your time and help!...See MoreNew window style help please
Comments (3)Hi Mike, it looks like your neighbours have achieved what may have been the original look by breaking up the large area windows with top lights (that perhaps have leaded squares?) If this appeals, I would suggest Residence Collection R9 windows, which achieve a fantastic authentic timber appearance, but offer all the advantages of modern, almost maintenance free efficient uPVC windows. The example shows a bay window, but will give a good idea of the look) If you don't like the look of leaded squares in the toplights, perhaps a single astragal bar addition or some georgian bars would help break up the look? (Sorry the example is a bay again) As Christine pointed out, the various sizes of window your property has will make it difficult to achieve a uniform look across all the windows, but careful measuring and designing will be able to put some symmetry into the result. Newcastle Under Lyme is a bit far for our installers as we are primarily based in the South East but you can find a local Residence Collection installer here. If uPVC is not your bag, then perhaps you may consider aluminium windows? The extra strength allows for finer sightlines which will help let in more light. This lovely example has large leaded squares on a very complimentary anthracite grey, but you can get them powder coated in any colour - including white . I hope that helps your planning and provides some more decisions. We wish you the best of luck with your project. - Tom YES Glazing Solutions...See MoreJen Thomas
