Is Infinity granite worktop / Island looks good with graphite cabinets

Hi ,

Need a small advice regarding worktop design.

We are thinking to take infinity granite worktop / island for graphite colour units with copper/bronze colour profile.

Please see the attached picture of infinity granite and the picture of our kitchen design with copper /bronze profile.

Please let me know if it matches with graphite colour units or not ,

If not please let me know which colour units best to choose.

OR is it better to go with white worktop.

Any advice really helpful.

Difficult one. It does go with it especially with the copper profiles. My only concern would be having too many dark colours but again it depends on the actual room and the light coming into it.

I recently swapped my worktops from a mid colour to a white marble effect and the difference overall in the room was amazing regarding light.

Hello, I personally would always go for a contrast on the worktops to your cabinets. I think it might start to feel too dark otherwise. I would opt for a much lighter surface and keep the units the graphite finish. Are you having any sort of splash-back?

I would say that almost any colour can go with wood but not all shades of any colour. It tends to work best with more complex / less intense colours. So sage green or grey/blue would go well, but lime green or bright blue wouldn't go so well. Sage or grey/blue are usually available in off-the-shelf Shaker style doors, which you have there. They also go well with other subdued colours, so you could have either of those mixed with cream or pale grey. I wouldn't mix blue and green as you seem to have in your picture above, though, but that might just be my tastes. Also, I was extremely underwhelmed by the quality of oak worktops. They use a fast growing species (there are several species of oak) which has very little character and often a rather nasty orange tint. I chose a birch worktop from B&Q instead, which is much cheaper and has an amazing 'tigers eye' effect once oiled - absolutely no regrets there, my worksurface looks way better than my brother's more expensive oak one. Lastly, I did a lot of research and chose Fiddes Hard Wax Oil to finish the worksurface. Do not skimp on the finish, I've known people who have and they've univerally regretted it. I am extremely pleased with the Fiddes, water can sit on there as long as it wants and never sinks in. I know 2 people who chose different worktop oil brands and they have to wipe water off within 5 minutes or it leaves a mark.

Help me choose kitchen worktops and possible splashback/tiles

Hi, I've now had quartz worktops fitted in a white with grey and mirror flecks (compact lactea) & attach photos. Cabinets are all done too. My next area is what to do for splashback behind the hob/under the extractor. I originally wanted to do red glass across the length of the wall, but we have had under unit lights fitted below the higher cabinets and at night I can change these to any colour I want. If I do red all across I won't get the effect of the lights. Not even sure red would go? The wooden chairs are going and will be replaced & I still need to choose my island lights (thinking 3 pendants hanging). Husband thinks stainless steel sheet behind hob. I'm not sure this will look right with dark glass hob under it & wonder if it is hard to look clean all the time. What ideas do you all have as you helped with the worktops. I also show the dining table and the new open lounge area (intend to put a rug down). We also still need to find wall lights.

One or two observations: Oak breathes, in as much as when wet it will expand and when dry it shrinks, that's why it is good for boat and barrel building, when wet the gaps close up and make it watertight. What that means for a worktop is that unless the wood is stabilised (soaked through with epoxy) it will expand and contract, if glued to the granite that means when expanding it will warp, staying still where the glue is and bending downward, not much but it will. Perhaps a less porous wood could be better, bamboo is good, then, if the counter top end is flush, you could screw and/or glue a stout batten of matching material to the end of the counter to add support ( extend it out past the front of the counter to ad support to the overhang) then glue the block to the granite with epoxy and screw up through the batten.

@Daisy England Thanks for the reply. We got 3 folding doors approximately 3m long next to the breakfast bar like in the picture and small window as well . Yeah I am also concern that if i use the dark colours the room looks small. I am really struggling to find the granite in white colour or very very light colours which matches to this kitchen. I don't like beige colour.

@WeDesignSpaces Thanks for the reply. Yeah I got that feeling it might look dark. If I use this worktop i am thinking to go for some copper glass flash back or copper mosaic splash back. Is it makes the room dark ?

First i started looking for granite or marble in white colour for this kitchen.

Everyone said marble is not good for worktops . Even the guy who is selling the granite and marble slabs he said don't go for marble. So we decided to go for granite.

Now I am struggling to find the granite in white colour.

So I thought of choosing this infinity granite.

Can we get any granite in white colours to this kind of kitchen price range between 4k to 5k.

Any ideas really helpful.
