Removing pink paint from white tiles

Hello, can anyone offer advice on how to remove paint from tiles?

The previous owner did this in the bathroom, we think they’re porcelain tiles but unsure of the type of paint, perhaps some sort of vinyl emulsion (the trend in this property is that it’s never been the most appropriate paint for the job!)

The tiles are good so we’d like to preserve them - scraping works but is such a big job. Any ideas on something more efficient?

If nothing is pealing off, you can prime first, 2 coats and after 2 coats top coats should cover that

Thank you for taking the time to reply. Do you mean to paint over it? I was hoping there might be a way to remove the paint back to the original tile so we could just have the white tiles rather than paint. Do you know what might remove it without damaging the tiles? Thanks again!

AAh! Undertones. Have just been contacted by a developer whose show home has been decorated in the same pink shade of beige!! That's why it is SOOO important to look at samples in the actual light of the room. Sven, please don't paint the tiles. I would suggest repainting the walls but do try before you buy. Use the tester pots supplied by the paint manufacturers in the room so you exactly how the colour will look in that particular light. I'm thinking a pale grey (but do check first for undertones!) or a soft blue as the Pantone colours of 2016 sprung to mind when I saw the tilesGood luck!

We have a room in Setting Plaster, it’s a N facing room and I found that colour looks like a warm neutral in N facing but sickly peach in S facing. Conversely we have a S facing room in Calamine, this looks too sugary pink and almost blue toned in N facing but warms up nicely in S facing. So my advice would be to go less peach and more pink with your choices as you are S facing. As it happens Tani - I have an identical layout to yours, and am also pondering what to paint my white sofa wall! It does look a bit blank and stark in white. I’m going to buy a terracotta/rust/tan sofa but need a colour to go behind it. And some stuff for on the wall. Your plants have inspired me to get some thank you!

you will protect the timber better stopping the paint on the mastic line, so if you apply a line of tape in the mastic you will get a straight line to finish the paint against. stopping at the mastic joint can expose the back of the timber to the elements. if it was not primed and painted when being installed, which is not generally the case, it will be more prone to water penetration and ultimately rotting. hope this steers you to pick the right solution. aesthetics are important, but protecting the timber is the number one reason for applying paint. best Rowland

Hi Laura, dark green will definitely give that bold look and make your small rooms interesting! I love the contrasts and use bold colors in my designs to give that eclectic look therefore I'd advise to go for a rich green such as Studio Green or Duck Green from F&B. The combination with the white tiles will be fantastic!trust me:)

Yes u can strip off the paint as well to bring them the original

Best to buy nitrosol comes in a gel can of 500 gm up to 2 l , brush on tiles , leave after wipes off and gently scrap off, wear nitrile gloves and wear goggle glasses. Be carefull very dangerous keep distance during application it may burn skin
