I am planning a big renovation and I was in touch with a few interior designers to get quotes. A lot of them told me that their service is about 10% of project cost (this is also reflected in their quotes).
It seems strange to me to charge % of the whole project, which includes insulation, boiler replacement, installation of underfloor heating, wiring, replacement of windows, structure engineer service, planning permissions and similar. These jobs are not related to interior designer service at all!
I feel like I am doing things the wrong way.
Do I need to tell them my budget for furniture, finishings and decorations only? I want an interior designer to help me with furniture, layouts, colours, textures, lightings.
