Harden Design Inspiration Needed!

We moved into our house and completely renovated the inside. This year it’s time to tackle the garden! I’ve been addicted to Finding inspiration on Houzz, but now I’m struggling to decide what to do with this garden. It’s a blank canvas now so should be easier to design, but I’m in desperate need for some ideas and input other than my own. Please help!

Well that really depends on what you want from the garden. Patio, lawn, borders, low maintenance, shed, etc.

Oh, wow, looks like youve done a great job clearing it out already and now you have a nice exciting blank canvas!
As Sarah said, first thing is to think about what you want from your garden.
Do you want to grow vegetables? Sit in the sun/shade/both? Will you need storage provisions, outbuildings etc? Is your garden exposed and do you need shelter from the wind?
Once you have established that, you then have to find out the best way of laying the areas that you will want out in the garden. Things like your garden aspect, microclimates and its shape will be some of the determinant factors in this.
When it comes to choosing the planting, please consider their final sizes and your garden's environment conditions (soil type and pH, temperature, amount of sunlight, exposure etc) to make sure that they match your space and will thrive.

Hi Simone, Firstly you could have two similar colour schemes that would look nice either way. Light grey walls with white / cream and browns OR Cream walls with brown and wood Here are a few ideas for how these colours look together. The knock on effect in the entrance to downstairs rooms can make this a tricky exercise when moving staircases... but worth investigating if this is your long term home. If you found a local design and build company to help - that might be the easiest route to get building control plans done all at the same time - and application for the extra windows etc too .

You are right. i went into BQ yesterday to see what an 800 x 800 shower was like - IT WAS TINY. I think I need a 1000 x 800 minimum and as such whipped up two layouts where one requires the toilet to move to a new party wall whereas the other keeps the toilet on the exterior wall but moved closer to the window. The second layout proposal results in a small gap between toilet and shower enclosure. Im concerned that gap might be too tiny to walk through? FYI Wall with the window is exterior Wall to the left separates bedroom Wall with the door is internal Wall with the proposed toilet is the party wall with neighbour. i have also posted a vanilla layout of the room size including window and just the door. Is one of the proposed layouts better than the other? Are there any other layouts I could consider? Layout 2 - is the gap between the shower enclosure and toilet be ok? Vanilla Layout Layout 1 - requires toilet to move to party wall.

Maybe check episodes of this program they have done some lovely designs. Especially the Manchester garden in episode 6 https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p098k9wm

It’s huge! Totally depends what you want. Do you have Instagram? @gardenthirtythree has a garden similar proportions to yours and has come up with a neat, modern layout that creates loads of interest and doesn’t make it look like it’s all one really long space!
