What colour to paint front door and frame?

Hi, I’ve just painted my porch masonry and started to prime the woodwork but cant decide what colour to paint the door and surrounding wood. Thinking maybe a shade of red to take a colour from the glass and that i should perhaps paint the door, frame and panels all the same. None of my other neighbours have the original door or stained glass to give me examples. Would welcome any suggestions. :)

Yes to painting door, frame & surrounding wood, and to picking out a colour from your lovely stained glass. Not sure about ted though - might be too much with the colour of your brick? Hi Nelly Try to get the picture to load, we have seen grey timber with Tudor houses which has looked quite smart but it depends on the house and you need to consider the other details, if you have mock beams will you paint these too or could you render over them? do you want to keep the Tudor theme or not?

What a great decision to have to make, I wish I lived on a colourful street. Lucky you. I like either the salmon pink of the first photo or the palest pink of the second photo. I’d stick to white for the door. Keep us updated with what you decide, I don’t think you can go wrong with most colours but I wouldn’t want to be the boring one in the row

I would prefer to see a colour too, rather than anthracite - which can turn into a bit of a black hole for a front door. I like a front door to be more interesting than just matching the window frames. Agree that doing the whole thing would be best to maximise the size of the door - especially since it's not huge and it's not centred on the front of the house - so you want it to be really obvious where the door is and draw people to it.

Given that your porch masonry is painted white, I think a dark red would be nice. Or, as carocat24 suggested, pick out the blue or green in your stained glass. Personally I prefer a white door frame to make the door stand out.

Love a green door, especially sage green. However bright colours can look fab too. I did suggest Little Green’s Celestial Blue on another post. Such a pretty colour.
