windows in Victorian house

Hi, have recently moved into a Victorian house which needs a bit of work. The windows are next on the list. Some are timber/original and some are older PVC style. We had a couple quotes to replace but they were extortionate so looking into restoring/fixing options. We are based in Cheshire, any ideas? Basement and top floor first! Thanks!
