does it scratch easily?

I have the same decking in the same colour, put down a couple of weeks ago. I thought it was supposed to be hard wearing and less maintenance. I find the slightest thing scratches it. When it rains it also leaves patches where the water runs. Is this normal to pay so much for a product that seems to need careful nurturing! It looks lovely but am disappointed how easily it scratches .

Hyperion Decking is low maintenance and durable, however, we still recommend taking when moving plant pots and furniture around and using protective feet pads where necessary. Surface scratches will fade with weathering, but can also be eliminated using a wire brush or coarse sandpaper. More information can be found here.

The patches from the rain occur on any uncapped composite board after a natural process called extractive bleeding. As a result of this process there will be an initial lightening as the boards naturally weather over the first 8-10 weeks after which the boards will be relatively colour stable. A painted kitchen painted well will take a great deal of wear. Bear in mind that the high street typically spray paints and only a couple of coats which not enough. Really you need two under coats, cut back in between applications and then two or three top coats, cut back in between. You also need to ensure that the final coat is applied on site once the kitchen is fitted and caulked. It should look like cast sugar when it's finished, and done properly it cannot be beaten. We add gesso into our top coats too to thicken it up. Your other option is spray pigmented lacquer but it doesn't look good on classical mouldings, cockbeads etc. Poorly painted and prepared coats will chip more easily, and all painted surfaces will chip, in the same way that doors and architraves do.

We definitely see what you mean, this really doesn’t look like a good solution, although tile corners are always tricky. Usually when using a plastic tile trim, we’d go for rounded one that you fit under the tiles. We did something else for our client in a recent bathroom project- no trims, just white silicone and she’s very happy with the result. We suggest you try it too! Everything can be fixed, so don’t worry, we’re sure it will look great at the end. Let us know if you’d need any help..good luck!

Hi Keswing. Looks good. Ok, so did a very rough plan with your image but obviously better if you can lay things out with the pots before planting to see if you think they look right. Do check on the label or online for its eventual height and spread. Managed to fit most things in but with the cannas I thought you could leave in pots and just place the pot in the border. They can quite be tender to frost so keeping them in pots will enable you to move and tend to them more easily. Most Mahonias are called Oregon grape, it’s just the common name and like I said they can be big or small, more info here : https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/popular/mahonia If you wanted something tall for privacy have look at one of the x-media varieties, ‘X- media, Winter sun’ would be my choice. I inherited one in my own garden and it‘s adored by the birds although a little prickly (see pic.) I‘ve never bought plants online as I just tend to look at plants in the garden centre then wonder where I can put them 😂. I’m sure most reputable growers will ensure their plants are transported well tho. Anyway here’s the rough plan (hope it makes sense) and my mahonia.

The majority of carcases are made out of MFC. Most people choose white. You buy them according to the size you want and depending where you get them from they could offer purpose made sizes as opposed to the standard 150mm, 300mm, 350mm and so on in increments of 50mm. There is normally no 700mm as standard but as said can be produced depending in where you opt to to get them from. Many now come with soft close as standard. Most are flat packed so you have to assemble them and put the cams and pegs in place but some are supplied semi assembled (like the ones we sell) so can be put together in 2 minutes. The cost of the carcases will vary depending on colour, flat packed, semi assembled or fully assembled. The doors have to be manufactured. They‘re not just cut to size as you say. You need to know what size you want before ordering them as you can’t just cut one down that’s too big. Worktops are a minefield of choice from solid timber, laminate, Quartz or solid surface. All vary in price. I would not bother getting carcases from one supplier and then doors from another. Small independent suppliers in the main work out no more expensive than large DIY stores. You need a kitchen company to assist you.
