Any recommendations where to get reasonable porcelain wood effect floor tiles from, the price seems to vary so much

What area are you? There are many independent tile suppliers as well as the places like Topps Tiles etc. My sister got hers from an independent tile store in Welwyn Garden City.

I'd keep the worktops as pale as possiible, quartz is a good choice, maybe with a little silver or grey fleck. Adding another colour with regards tiles is going to be difficult as you've already got a strong accent colour with the red appliances. Adding yet another on top may be a mistake. Maybe you could go for a red glass splashback and upstands? Or, red metro tiles with grey grout? Dark Grey metro tiles would look very classy. I personally think that the same rule applies as for decorating walls etc. Plain is best and use accessories to add colour. When you get bored with the colour combo you can very easily change accessories for a whole new look. Remember you'll be looking at the kitchen for possibly 10 years, will you always love grey and red? If you stick to the pale grey / dark grey and ivory pallette, then you can change the kettle, toaster, cannisters as many times as you like from red, to turquoise, back to ivory, green etc, but once you put tiles on the wall it's a lot more expensive to change when you've gone off the colour. I only tiled my kitchen around 4 years ago and i'm sick of looking at it already, and i positively hate my black granite worktops.

Hi Iveta Evans, We have a range of Italian Wood effect Porcelain which may be of interest. Not quite as large as you are looking for (905x200mm) but they look great and really realistic. Our Reclaimed Oak may be of interest, they are a darker grey colour but lots of warm undertones. They are suitable for both internal and external use. Hi, If you haven't found any wood effect porcelain tiles as of yet, consider the castlevetro vogue range...They come in 6 colours (if I remember correctly) ranging from light to dark and does resemble wooden flooring....We've had the vogue beige laid in one of our properties and it does look good and works fantastically with UFH...I will leave a link below. https://www.tiles-direct.com/floor-tiles-c27/vogue-tiles-c1286

Hi Suzanne, yes, I have done this, but sadly can’t find a photograph of it! it was in a new build in a long narrow room where the shower was at the end so I tiled the whole floor including the shower try and carried the tiles up the back wall of the shower, it worked really well as the ’planks’ added visual width to the room.
