Ideas for two storey full extension

Just about to instruct an architect for a full two storey rear extension on my 3 bed semi-detached. On the first floor, my property has two bedrooms on the front and a bedroom and bath at the rear.
I'm wondering how to extend the entire rear and maintain natural light to all the rooms.
I'm also curious how much light we will lose to the double living rooms if we're going out and up.
