Help. hallway tiles

Hi. We are relaxing out hallway stairs with a glass and oak style banister and having oak doors from the hall into the living room, kitchen and utility and from the porch into hallway. Does anyone have views on whether a geometric tile will work for the flooring. All the examples of glass and oak stairs I can find have pain for tiles in the hallways.

I can‘t see that it would matter which direction any tiles go. The stairs and doors etc in oak will have no effect on geometric tiles.

We lifted our encaustic tiles and relaid them on a new floor. Most builders will say they can't be relaid as its too much work. We ended up lifting each individual tile ourselves and cleaning off all the grout so that the builder couldn't claim the tiles all cracked when he tried to lift them. It then took him a week to re-lay them but he agreed at the end it was worth it. Stick to your guns, I would either leave the floor or make sure you closely supervise the lifting and cleaning of each individual piece.

Hi Emmeline, I have voted for 'London townhouse' purely because it a very uplifting and vibrant. I also really like the 'Battersea family home' entrance way too as it is really homely! I feel that is really does depend on what sort of look you are going for and what furniture you were hoping to place in the hall way though!

Tiling outside porch area and hallway with same tiles - weird?

Our hallway is total 7sqm then the outside path is max 2 sqm. It is just very expensive (£2 - 450 per sqm) even with my very talented husband doing the tiling. We are looking at a company that supplies the mosaic tiles loose but affixed to a sticky sheet so it's faster to install but still authentic individual tiles. I am tempted to use the nicer more expensive tiles inside and then use a cheaper black and white chequer board pattern outside. However like you I want things to match. So far I have done nothing because the cost is so high and I want it to look right. We are also doing a big renovation so my budget for the hall is being squeezed.

Ok, so I've tried to delete this post as I've just picked up the rest of the laminate and think that the flooring will need to be replaced. The floor level isn't the only issue. Previous owners have welded other tiles to the original ones (which is where the black glue is coming from). Also, we are soon to be running a new mains water pipe through the house and the flooring will need to come up in the hall. We are having a new boiler and pipe replaced because it currently takes 15 minutes to run a bath. I will be contacting a restoration company today to see if they can advise.

I love geometric tiles and it could look fantastic. If you share a picture of the tiles I’m sure you will have more comments. Something like this would look nice.
