Where is the light coming from?

I love these floating stairs. Do you still do them? If so, I will measure so I can get a proper quote. But I don’t understand where the light is coming from? Where the tread meets the wall is there a gap? I can’t quite make it out from the photo.

Don’t worry, I see now there’s another photo from a different angle! There IS a gap between the wooden tread and the wall. Is the middle of the tread metal? And that’s where the strength comes from?

Here's a quick sketch combining wooden slatted blinds, grey with dark tapes to match your island on the inside frame , nice Roman blinds on the outside frame to soften and warm use a cool print to keep it up to date,big soft window seat cushions feather and down for luxury with some cushions to tie it all together! I think it's a large space and it needs a hell of a lot of thinking about. There are many internal and external factors to take in to consideration. On one of the plans the Fireplace which I think is in the middle, had moved to nearer the Bay. ( are there two and your'e cutting down to one? ) Every plan has to start with the drains, where are they and how are you going to access them, it's crucial to the whole design. Then you can move on to what else is outside, what do want to look at, where's the light coming from etc.......................Then inside to where you want to place things for maximum usability etc. I think Karen's offer of help by a proper Concept Planner would be invaluable to you as she'll be able to offer up different solutions and take everything in to consideration that needs to be, thus taking the guess work out of it. Blowing the renders up in to 3D is enormously helpful, you'll find that designs that you like in 2D suddenly don't work for you in 3D and therefore will need to be tweaked often several times. Concept Planners offer an invaluable service in this type of situation, they know all the pitfalls and often are much better at this situation than Architects. Everyone has their niche and sometimes, you just need one or more different people in your corner with the right set of tools.

I was thinking warm dusky pink but then I remembered I used Dulux Ocean Ripple from their Light & Space range in one of our bedrooms. It’s supposed to have light attracting particles in the paint.
