Light for hallway ideas

Hi all, my mind is blank as to what kind of lighting will look nice in this hallway. We have one light there and one above the stairs that we need to buy.
Do they both need to match? Feeling overwhelmed by the choice available !
Ideas would be welcome.
Excuse the bad quality pic. We also will be changing the carpet on the stairs and hopefully keeping the tiled floor that was under the original carpet. Skirting hasn't been painted yet either. We were thinking a shade of grey but unsure.
