Help!!! Off-white hex floor tiles clash with white wall tiles/plumbing
Comments (39)Jonathandb1972, I was thinking of going with a grout that is the same colour or lighter than the grey tile. The hex will be grouted in a medium grey. This has already been done in the loo (the hex) and looks great. Neither are grouted in the above picture. Do you think there will still be issues with where the grout lines are if they are the same or lighter than the tile? Also, where the hex tile in the shower meets the grey tile will mainly be covered by the shower's profile. However, the shower only goes up to about 2m, so there will still be a visible "meeting" of tiles above that. My builder is a little concerned about how this will look as he will have to cut small pieces of tile to fill up the edge, which may stain once they start grouting. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for the best......See MoreQuartz Counters and Backsplash
Comments (6)Book matching is something that good fabricators do. It sounds like you need a good fabricator. Although - as I understand it only certain quartz with a high price tag can be book matched. And you have to do what you are suggesting where you use more than one slab and the wastage adds to the cost. The image is of Dekton not quartz which may be an easier way of getting the result you want....See MoreMost practical white countertop?
Comments (5)I have solid surface worktops. Mine are Mirostone Taj Mahal. i work with kitchens. I have read the reviews that I think you could be referring to and agree with them. If you Google the colour of my worktops they are similar to a Calacatta Marble. I have had mine installed for around 4 months and I am very careful when placing items on them and also cleaning them. Yesterday we had to resort to fabricating them again so out came the sander and the dust extraction machine. We firstly attempted the peninsular top. This was done 3 times to achieve the finish I wanted and we ended up doing a wet and dry sand which shouldn’t be necessary. Then we tackled the island, sink area and the other corner. I had a long discussion with my supplier over these worktops and have told them that I consider them to be sub standard because they are China imports and not up to the usual pre Covid standard. I have a customer who had a very dark colour. She complained about them, I passed her complaint on to the same supplier I had mine from and only last week got a full refund for them. It took 8 weeks of arguing to get the money back. Even the batches were not the same colour code and this was apparent with the island. We never take the film off until fabrication is complete so were unable to see this. Mirostone is to the best of my knowledge the same or very similar to Minerva in its make up. Avoid it. I’m lucky that we can refabricate ours, not that I want to be constantly doing that, but we can to bring it back to life. We have fitted several Pietra solid worktops and have had no problems whatsoever with them, so take a look at those. They are very slightly thicker 25mm from recollection. They have proved to be very hard wearing. Charlie is right with the cleaning side of thngs. So many people use chemicals but you shouldn’t. Stick to soapy water only. Look at Pietra It’s good stuff. Here’s my worktops. Love them but am annoyed at the fabrication side of things. It’s all due to the recipe of what’s in the tops....See MoreTiling Edging Dilemma
Comments (5)You would normally fit an edging to the top of the wall tile. I have it on mine in chrome finish. The wall tiles aren’t finished with a giazed smooth edge all round which you could leave bare on the top edge, hence the need for edging. When I have tried to expand your images it does look really untidy. Mine are very neat. There looks as though there are gaps. Is this the bit you’re unhappy with or do you not like the edging at all? Why in a bathroom do you have a bare electrical cable coming out the bottom of the radiator?...See MoreAngela Kellum
