What colour should I paint bedroom fireplace and wardrobes?
Comments (16)Hello Nicola E, How you treat the paint work entirely depends on what you want to stand out.. The fireplace or the wardrobes.. This too depends on what else is happening in the room... If just a bed then it's entirely possible to create a feature of said wardrobes by painting them a bolder colour or the chimney breast a darker colour.. Look at the room and consider what you'd like to have as a focal point and how big the room is.. Shades of cream and off whites are far nicer than white.. So if you decide to include a white scheme, definitely look at shades of off white and creams.. Little Greene has a lovely range of chalky colours.. such as Whitening, White Lead, Stock etc.. These can be chosen for wood and walls.... They give a warm, chalky and sophisticated look which can blend beautifully with colours such as Celestial blue or James just to talk of blue and these are warm not cold blues .. I also like Juniper Ash which is a slightly mauve colour but look for warm versions of a colour you like.. So if the fireplace is to stand out and the wardrobes are a pale creamy colour the accent and focus is the fireplace which will benefit if the room is smaller than you'd like.. If you have a large bed then this might be the best way to consider it. If the room is large and you want something to create a statement then consider the fireplace and wardrobes.. A shade or two darker for wardrobes than chimney breast will create a frame surrounding both the fireplace and for the bed if this is facing on the opposite wall.. Blend the bedding and cushions, should you choose them into the scheme to create a cohesive and stylish finish. Lastly if you want a pale room with painted wardrobes these will form a statement and frame if you have less in the room... : )) Blended.... Contrast... This one isn't a bedroom but you get the idea.....See MoreMy bedroom: currently a blank canvas, would like to inject some colour
Comments (1)How about adding small color details, such as gorgeous luxury cushions or bed spread? It doesn't have to be big or expensive to add a touch of color. The rest of the bedroom can be grey or cream, and a small color cushion can make a huge impact then :)...See MoreWhat should we do with this bedroom?
Comments (5)For the Future of the property, its always worth having an en-suite as it can increase buyer interest, convenience and value. However, if you feel you do not have the budget and cannot get the necessary pipes placed. It could be a great and more cost effective finish to use that are as a build in wardrobe, not sure if you have enough room for a walk-in. But definitely block that door entrance off - and then have the wardrobe running along that wall. Alternatively you can keep the walk in shower and the other half as wardrobe. In terms of function and purpose of the room now - it would be great to have it set up as a guest bedroom and current study, a couple or one minimal side table, cost effective and a good quality sofa bed. You would want to face the sofa out towards the bay window and Then you can set up the desk with in the bay window ! facing open space or a window is much better than facing a wall as that can block creativity and thinking. You can place a small low coffee table in between, looking like a smart office space and with this you can still run wardrobes behind the sofa! Will be an amazing set up once its done . Hope that helps! Good luck...See MoreBedroom design ideas please - fairly blank canvas!
Comments (16)Below are some schemes , note in each the layering of texture and color. The headboard is a great start to a lux but cosy look. Staying with the cream, you can work in more linen color in lamp shade or throw, even some small pillows. Linen Roman blinds even. The bedding might be in need of extra to fluff it up, maybe add a summer weight doona (or winter!). Once you have the windows and side table sorted you can use covers to change the basics of the scheme - you could stick with the blue, but add white sheets to fold back, or go with an olive green...See MoreSophie
