Bedroom Deco HELP!

Hey! Im coming out of depression so decided to change up my room to make me feel calmer by having more storage and more of a colour theme than random colours. The attached photo is the new mirror/carpet/ wardrobe. Note I have to work in my bedroom too.

I still have the old curtains - what colour curtains do you recommend? Do you think blinds will go better? If so which ones/ what colour?

Do you have any other recommendations for deco.

    Hi Bumbling Bee,

    Updating your bedroom/study space is a great way to begin your fresh start :)

    My first thought was also Venetian blinds for the windows but because your windows are high, glaring light conditions may not be a problem and they may even restrict light into the room at certain times of day. So an alternative thought I had is Roman blinds. To maximise on light and the windows themselves as a room feature, mount them outside recess at ceiling height.

    Whatever blinds you go for they will be less intrusive in your workplace, which is important when u r trying to create ‘calm’ around you.
    They will also free up space around the windows which gives you more in the way of storage choices. A slim full-height bookcase between the two would be an amazing addition for this and you could add stylish containers to stop the surfaces becoming cluttered. It would also create a nice spacial separation between your work zone and sleeping area and clear your window sills which at the moment are needed for storage.

    Regardless of what you go for, keep the styling around this area gentle and uplifting. Go for calming colours, perhaps consider a textural fabric or an interesting weave for your Romans.

    However, before doing any of this make your bed area your priority. Treat it as your special domain to add a bit of you. Because the rest of the pallet will be neutral and calming out of necessity to your work space, go a bit more to town here. Consider layering with cushions, or throws or a ‘must have’ duvet cover. And don’t forget the walls, what about some art work or a shelf for your personal treasures. Maybe consider changing the wallpaper to pull ‘your space’ together, or if u love it use it as your starting point. Once you have created your bit of ‘you’ you can use these choices to identify your perfect neutral pallet to compliment the rest of the scheme and identify any accent colours u may want to single out.

    Whatever you do though, don’t pick the paint first. There are 1000’s of paint colours to chose from but only one of you. Start with what makes you happy and brings you joy and work outwards from there.
