How can we improve our bedroom
Comments (40)Hi, I suggest you move the mirrors up , at the level of the window because they are too low , with this you will create a hight of the room , the carpet it is a problem : 1: it keeps the dust in the house and 2: you can never have a clean room with it . I also suggest get some money put a wood floor and the radiator can be cut out , moved on the floor heating , then you can decide if you want or not to create a small place to sit at the window or the corner where your closet is a small table with a chair where you can rest and have also a make-up session . Move the curtains close to the level of the ceiling and try to find a fade coloured curtain that can create an accent in the room (just because you have a patter wall that does not mean everything in the house should have a patter as well) and i suggest a plant because it keeps the air clean even when you sleep . i can try to make you a design suggestion and see more of what i am writing you, but i will need some specific measurements of the room (height- distance from the wall to the window and to the corner and after to the door , i assume that is where the master-bedroom bath is . Kind regards, Andreea...See MoreBathroom - separate shower and bath?
Comments (18)Hi, I'd definitely keep your feature bath. This can be painted in a nice Fired Earth Eggshell finish. I can't comment on your basin or wc, as I can't see them and have no idea what condition they are in? I'd tile the floor, shower areas and window reveals. I'd suggest upstands (skirting tiles) around the rest of the bathroom, then you can add some nice colour to your bathroom your painted bath will be a lovely feature. Have a look at some of my photosets which may give you some inspiration. Having said all this, I think your budget is unrealistic. The most important component in your new bathroom is the person who undertakes the work and this will cost you money. Good luck with your project. Comments (8)It's difficult to say without knowing what style you like. I personally like a bit of the dramatic in a bathroom, so really dark greys for the walk in shower and maybe floor to ceiling tiles but in panels where the sinks are.As for the mirror, i think that's down to personal choice, but i would have tiles behind the sink. They can mirror the tiles in the walk in shower:- Do you want modern or traditional, either way, go for opulence:-The lighting and mirrors can help with that. Smoked glass shower door instead of clear?? Also helps with privacy for the person in the showerYou may like a more light and airy approach? Do you have an accent colour in mind for the bedroom that you could carry through to the bathroom - turquoise for example. Change the way the tiles are laid, ie Herringbone on a statement wall ( shower )Of course you could go a more standard route with the tiling and have counter tops with back stands and bring excitement in somewhere else. You need to have a good think about what you like. Open and Idea book and start whittling down what you do and don't like. You'll get there in the end!...See MoreBathroom tiling and painting - help!
Comments (5)In my opinion it's all about: undertones, natural or artificial light, overall tone and other materials. Undertones - you need to clarify what the undertone is of the tile (that means is it biased towards a cool possibly blue colour or a warmer colour). Look at a paint chart, perhaps F&B next to the tile in good light. Try to match the tile with the correct colour, for example Strong White has a blue undertone, Skimming Stone has a violet undertone. If you do this it should work. Light - once you have identified the undertone you could paint the wall in a dark or light version of that colour. Consider natural light and artificial, and also consider the temperature of the LEDs. I only use very warm which is I think 2700 kelvins - it makes a huge difference. Overall tone. Some rooms look insipid because everything is too tonally similar. Rooms that are all tiles the same with pale walls can look like this. Adding a darker tone (it could be wood, or a wall tiled darker or accessories) will improve this. Materials, try to place samples of everything together to get it right. Wood or wood effect will add warmth, if you have a room with no wood, will it be cold? If wood isn't an option make sure there is tonal interest....See MoreBeverlyFLADeziner
